I think you can onlt really call this one when a player's career is over, so it's Martin McHugh for me.

In my youth Peter Nolan and Paddy Molloy were the men in Offaly

Then Tony McTeague & Johnny Flanerty

and lastly Matt Connor & Brian Whelehan

I could not pick just one, they were all tops

Football-Have to go with Barney Rock. Just ahead of Brian Mullins
Hurling-Liam Rushe will be barring injury. But Brian McMahon was some hurler too

Too young to remember the team of the late 60s but doubt any of them could compare to Paul Barden.

Watching Kilkenny since the late 80's. 1. DJ Carey 2. Henry Shefflin 3. Tommy Walsh/JJ Delaney

Good picks. As someone watching Kilkenny from the early 60's I'd add: 1. Eddie Keher 2. Ollie Walsh 3. Frank Cummins.

Awards says it all, Karl Lacey, Donegal's most decorated player ever, and with that I'd say the greatest ever.

Disagree. Karl is an outstanding footballer and so consistent it's unbelievable. I can't remember too many bad games or performances in the past 8 years or so. He's our Mr Dependable but I don't think he's as good a footballer in the true sense of the word as McHugh or Murphy. Those two are on a different level which in a way speaks volumes because Karl is fantastic and an absolute cert in Donegal's best ever 15.

And on the point of awards- Ryan Giggs has won more trophies for Man United than any other player. I wouldn't think he's considered their best player. One of the greats, absolutely but not the best.

For Tyrone, in terms of raw talent as opposed to longevity or contributions, it's Frank McGuigan (and I'm from the other side of the County). Glorious fielding ability - that ability to climb higher and seemingly hang in the air longer than everyone around him, mesmerising feints and dummies deriving from superb balance and great strength (sending men on their arfes without him having to lay a hand on them), kick-passing, vision, accuracy, both feet, calmness and grace under the most cynical of attention and pressure, courage, timing and pace, this 6-foot plus Maradona of the GAA had it all and there's never been a Tyrone player like him. With Frank in the side, team tactics amounted to little more than "Give it to McGuigan". Peter number 2. Then Frankie Donnelly, Iggy Jones, Pat King.

Dessie Dolan was class again today, our best ever footballer. Martin Flanagan was also a serious footballer in his prime, pity he didn't get a Leinster medal.
