Wasn't around for a lot of the Boylan era, but Trevor Giles stood out for me. One of the best passers of the ball that i have ever seen. Royaldunne, Graham Reilly, really? One of our best players at the moment but that ain't saying much uptheross (Meath) - Posts: 78 - 17/05/2013 20:46:15 1385990 Link 0 |

An impossible question. How can you compare a top class full-back to a top class corner forward and say which one is greater. There is just too much difference in what they do. anfearbeag (Meath) - Posts: 1134 - 17/05/2013 21:25:28 1386014 Link 0 |
Too many to pick from. My personal favourites would be Sylvie Linnane in hurling (what a champ!) and the late, great Enda Colleran in football. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3143 - 17/05/2013 21:29:17 1386017 Link 0 |

John Joe O'Reilly, widely acknowledged as the best Centre back ever. Sergeant_Slash (Cavan) - Posts: 2182 - 18/05/2013 09:06:35 1386034 Link 0 |
Peter Canavan was the greatest but Frank McGuigan also stood out in the 1970's and early 1980's when Tyrone struggled at times to make an impression. Captained the team to Ulster glory as a teenager in 1973, scored a great goal v Down at Newcastle in 1982 and who will ever forget 1984 and the Ulster Final against Armagh. Nudie Hughes is probably the best Monaghan player of all time although Ray McCarron, Gerry McCarville and Eamonn Murphy were top players,in more recent times you would have to mention Tommy Freeman, Paul Finlay and Darren Hughes. The best hurler I saw playing in Monaghan was the legendary Joe Hayes. Hardasnails (Monaghan) - Posts: 288 - 18/05/2013 11:09:14 1386057 Link 0 |
