Great player yes. Ironic thing is, I was reading on here yesterday how he was not ruling out a Sligo return and now 24 hours later he retires.

Great player alright. I remember seeing him in the Cusack Stand on All-Ireland day in 1998, was one of Galways most voiciferous supporters. Seems like a pure football man, all the best to him.

i'm not going to comment on the footballer, I don't know enough, but I heard an interview with him yesterday where he was looking to get back in the county team but was dropped by team management. Is the way all players that are dropped should go, just pretend it didn't happen and announce your retirement?

great footballer, but never really warmed to him, always felt he did a bit too much play acting.
