Were not blasting their past success. Galway and Meath are two very proud counties and I've the up most respect for them. But just because they've stuff in the past doesn't mean you can turn a blind eye to all the wrongs that's going on in each county. People just don't like to hear the truth and harp back to past glory. This thread was set up to find out whats gone wrong in each county RIGHT NOW the PRESENT. We are simply stating whats going on. Joe Brolly was spot on about Galway. The performance was a disgrace to their teams of the past. At-least Meath try to the bitter end, they just lack structure and quality. The minimum you expect from a county team is to NEVER GIVE UP. Donegal have come from nowhere but a basis of hard honest work, well drilled and never ever give up. Look where that has taken them... cilldara13 (Kildare) - Posts: 261 - 24/05/2013 14:39:39 1390599 Link 0 |

Not so slash. As mod pointed out above, we simply do not have the players like we had in the late 90s/early 00s. Only Meehan in his prime from last Sunday's team would have got into the Galway team of 10-15 years ago. It's very easy to talk of how football has been 'revolutionized' or how Galway haven't kept pace with such developments. The U21 Ailteoir (Galway) - Posts: 929 - 24/05/2013 15:00:43 1390622 Link 0 |

The U21 team that won the All-Ireland this team played great attacking football. They also had a half-forward line that tracked back and backs that marked tightly. Last Sunday, Mayo were better organized and had better players. Ailteoir (Galway) - Posts: 929 - 24/05/2013 15:06:30 1390629 Link 0 |

Michael Meehan was two years out of club football through injury. He put himself through a punishing regime of swimming and cycling to try and regain fitness. Its been suggested the man should consider his long term health and retire now. Sean Armstrong has been dogged by hamstring injuries throughout his senior career. Again he's worked ferociously hard to try and retain a level of fitness that will allow him compete at inter-county level. There are other members of the Galway panel who make huge personal sacrifices to play for the county, some with minimal chance of ever becoming first choice selections. How about some of ye lad's getting on your bikes and cycling non-stop for three or four hours this weekend. Then while you're doing it imagine enduring that 4, 5, 6 times a week every week year on year in all weathers and you'll get some small insight into the hard work and dedication county players go through. It's dead easy for the rest of us to dismiss their efforts as an "utter disgrace". cilldara13 (Kildare) - Posts: 261 - 24/05/2013 20:21:57 1390861 Link 0 |

What a load of nonsense, every team has bad days and can take a hammering, in the past 3 years all of Dublin, kildare, meath, donegal, Tyrone,, etc have suffered heavy defeats. So less of the gloating. Galway are a proud footballing county and will bounce back from this. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 25/05/2013 09:13:52 1390930 Link 0 |

I'm not gloating. I'm just stating what is plain to see from an un-biased point of view. As I stated they are a proud football county and Hurling too. But that doesn't give them the right to not receive critical analysis. Kerry are the most proud of all and their fans are ruthless when they don't succeed. I've no doubt their day will come AGAIN, but it should be sooner rather than later if they got their act together. cilldara13 (Kildare) - Posts: 261 - 25/05/2013 18:19:25 1391139 Link 0 |
