I predicted Down to beat Derry narrowly, and they won by a bit more than I expected. OF the other matches,

I see Fermanagh beating Cavan, because Canavan will have the shackles on the scoring ability of their forwards.
Monaghan will get over Antrim with a bit to spare

The semis, believe it or not, would be too close to call.

Beyond the semis, if Down beat us, they will win the final as they are further down the road as the teams on the other side of the draw. Monaghan would provide the stiffest test. Fermanagh will do well but to win Ulster is just too big an ask. As it would be for Cavan, they will be good next year and top class the following year.

Ultimately, if we beat down, which is going to be all on the day, I would fancy our chances as the players are very focused indeed.

Im going to stick with if. Really and truly it is on the day, I have seen too much football to take anything for granted.

Don't see what Mayo have done that makes them any way better than last year. I'd expect Donegal to beat them again this year in that semi-final without much fuss.

Dublin are a much better side this year than the one Mayo beat last year but I'd certainly give Mayo more of a chance against Dublin but unless we get beaten by Kildare I doubt that we'll meet this year.

Why are we talking about Dublin and Mayo in the "Ulster 2013" thread?

I reckon Cavan each way is worth a few bob. They wont win but I reckon they will make the final.

I was resonding to 51's post earlier in the thread.

Shocking game at Casement Park. Poor standard of football between two poor sides.

Didn't sound like very inspiring stuff at Casement today, but a win is a win for Monaghan. Very poor return for Antrim, particularly against 14 men. Lets hope Cavan can do the business next week to set up a local derby for the semi final

Good point Macca! I'm prob more biased towards Cavan due to the number of battles they have had in my lifetime, and the recent league clash. However, it will be a real battle no matter who wins

Desperate stuff. What Antrim were at, using their spare man as a defender, when they could only score 0-5 points in 70 minutes of football is beyond me.

It's safe to say neither Cavan or Fermanagh will be too worried about facing Monaghan in the semi-final. Though, that's exactly what Monaghan want and I believe they are capable of better than what they showed today.

15 v 14 and scoring 5 points, thats madness. But we only managed one more in the AI semi v the Dubs 2 years ago, so its not that far from home!

I think that Fermanagh will beat Cavan next week, by a whisker. Cavan will struggle to score as Peter Canavan will have his homework done where Armagh hadnt.

im sure Monaghan will improve alot for the semi....see venues announced for the semi finals Donegal v Down is in Breffni while Monaghan semi v Cavan/Fermanagh will be in Clones.....

I thought semis were to be played in neutral grounds usually...so how do Monaghan get home advantage??

Shocking stuff in Casement today but the way Antrim ruined the game was terrible.Monagahn will have to improve on that today but im sure they will.Antrim double marked all 3 Monaghan forwrds and took the rest of thier players in to their own half to cover , hence Monaghans 18wides.Monaghan could have won this game by 15 points but left their shooting boots at home.better getting the wides out of the system today and keep the sharp shooting for the next day.

Anyone tell me what the price was into Casement yesterday? It's 20 quid into the stand in Brewster on Sunday. Disgraceful considering there is no minor game on. Good to see that Enniskillen Gaels wont go bankrupt anytime soon.

It was £20 / €25 with no UMFC game. There were only 7,700 at the game which tells it's own story. The game itself is an Ulster Council gig so all Enniskillen Gales will be getting is whatever they agreed with the UC, I'd imagine.
