Can somebody post what number of points New York lost by in their last 5 championship matches and who they were playing in each?

Not sure, Mayo beat them by 15 points in 08 or 09.

I see Rory Woods who used to play for Monaghan is with New York. Have they any other players this year who we would know a bit about?

the way i see it leitrim didn't fare too good last time and have lost a lot of players since then. i do't think they will fare as well as 2008 when they won by 11 points. 6 point win for me.

That game was closer than it looked. Late Galway goal and NY finished the game with 13 men. Leitrim v New York 2003 went to extra time.

I played in New York myself that summer. The Kevin Lilly fella mentioned in the match report there was one of the finest midfielders I played along with. He is American born and bred as well.

two bad hidings in the last two years suggest Leitrim should have something to spare. If by chance NY were to win, would they be able to travel to Ireland for a Connacht Semi Final? (remember their hurlers beat Down I think, but half the lads were illegal over there so couldn't travel to Ireland for Ulster final)

It makes you wonder should they be left in at all. I am all for their inclusion. However, when it is based on the premise that they will lose each time it becomes problematic, as what happens the day that they actually win?

Good point, not fair to have home advantage throughtout the championship. I mean imagine if someone like Dublin had that luxury...oh hang on a second!

Hard to know with New York after the 2010 game v Galway it looked like they had improved then the last two years against ourselves and Sligo the games was over as contest after 15mins. Leitrim don't score alot and are fairly decent at the back when tuned in. They have the ace in the pack in Emlyn Mulligan this guy is without doubt one of the best forwards in Connacht and if he was playing with Mayo or Galway we would hear alot more about him.

Leitrim by 6-8 points i think.

Leitrim Taking no chances, Jaysus a small bit of research would be nice before you write an article.

Two years ago, Mayo pulled off an almost miraculous escape from New York, before Sligo emerged last year as far more convincing winners.

Leitrim will struggle as they always do when they go to New York and they never hold the favourites tag or the will do fairly well tag very well. They're backs are decent enough, midfield well ya wont see them taking them from the clouds, forwards apart from Mulligan don't trouble the scoreboard operator. They generally don't score more than 12 points in any game and Mulligan kicks about 7 of those. But they are fit and can handpass around in circles like no one else. They might beat New York but someone has to trip up someday over there and we'll be hoping to avoid that award. If we get by them, Sligo will totally underestimate us as usual and we would have a good chance of pulling an ambush on them.

If New York win will the next team have to travel to the states also on account of immigration laws?

Yes London beat Fermanagh 15-9 two years ago. If it wasn't for our former minor missing a straight forward free they would have beaten Mayo two year ago.
