Snuffy,
Please tell me your comments regarding the corporate box and that Kerry man are a joke?
Seriously lad thats completely out line, if you can get your hands on a corpoarate box ticket or a ticket for any part of Croke your just as entitled to be in that seat as anyone else.
I know many a Kerry man and while they wreck my hed with the football there the most honest footballing people there is and I wouldnt be suprised if the man in question was making that remark regrarding cluxton taking free kicks for a laugh.
You on the other hand are arrogent and eltiest depsite the fact you've foundation underneath you to be.
I admire Dublin at the moment as a footballing side but if you want to go down the road of equality lets talk about Dublin and the fact that they are only what they are because of the huge financal support they have and population, not to mention all the best facilities and all their championship games at home, and throw in places like UCD, DCU and DIT too.
Now lets take Kerry for an example. A far superior county in footballing terms to Dublin as a whole, all off which has been achieved in a county surrounded by hurling powerhouses and no big university or training facility behind them. so before you go rating about people from counies you might want to think about things outside your bubble.
Long and short of it shut your mouth snuffy, Croke Park an all off its 60,000 od seats are there for the GAA and its people regardless of what county your from.

There's always one to take the bait. Honestly crossfieldball - have you never read one of snuffs posts before.
No problem with keepers taking frees so long as they hurry up about it. They should do like rugby and have a fixed length of time allowed to take a free. The ref gives a signal that all opposition players are far enough away from the ball and then the clock starts. If the opposing player encroaches on the free taker, the clock is reset. Not sure how long the time allowed should be - would 30 seconds be enough? If the free is not taken within the alloted time, the ball is thrown up. What does bug me is teams who bring their keepers up to take frees when they are not that good at it. It seems that Cluxton has made it fashionable for keepers to take frees so now everyone has to do it. Drives you mad when a keeper takes 2 minutes to dawdle up the field and then drives it 10 yards wide. Could one of you forwards not have done that? Saw it with Meath in the last game of the league. Newman kicking frees for fun from way out all day. Right at the end we get a 45 and they bring up Paddy o Rourke to kick it -who then puts it wide.

crossfieldball......dont hate me for being beautiful!
Wash your mouth out lad! I hope you dont tell people to 'shut their mouth' when you are in the '60,000' seat Croker (wherever that Croker is)! That sort of gruff talk is why you would be frowned upon in a corporate box and how you managed to get such a ticket would be investigated to make sure they didnt get into the wrong hands again!
Welcome to the board, but behave yourself and know your station when addressing me lad!

No problem with it at all. But they should be subject to the same time constraints as any other kicker. How long is allowed for a free kick or 45? Ref should blow his whistle when he is ready for the game to resume. If there is noone there to take the kick or he deems it to be taking too long, throw the ball in.

I have no problem, generally, with keepers taking free kicks if they are far out and he's good enough like Cluxton but bringing a keeper up for close in frees,no way it's just time wasting. Last Sunday I think the Tyrone keeper was brought up to take four frees, I think but only scored one. That was a waste of time any annoying.

Its a failure on clubs, counties and the game as a whole that forwards are unable to take a score.

For long-range frees I've no issue...........
But think I seen all when the Offaly goalkeeper came up to take two 14-yard frees in front of the posts in a recent league match against Leitrim.....!!
Mind you, he was still quicker than the Mayo free-taker from years ago, Maurice Sheridan, it was like watching paint dry. Easily, very easily, a minute and a half would elapse from the time the free was awarded to the time is actually kicked. Say about 10 frees in match that was about 15 mins, about 1/5 of the match!!! A good free-taker by all accounts, I missed most of the second-half ones, I'd be asleep by then.

If there worried about them being in ''the wrong hands'' why do they give them to you? Then again i suppose when its something you've made up you can do anything

If the free is a long one, say outside the 45 and the game is very close, I could see a goal keeper taking the free. But from 45 or less a forward should be able to handle it.
(When I watch the matches at the local pub, all the old timers start groaning and laughing when the gk runs up the field to take a free. They think it is ridiculous.)

Niall Morgan - 80/1 on paddypower for player of the championship.
Has already won man of the match in 2 live televised matches - the Div 1 League Final and in Omagh against the All Ireland Champions, Donegal.

It is statistically pretty amazing that a gk would be regarded as a more accurate place-kicker than an IC forward. You would think gks would spend most of their time perfecting the art of SAVING while the forwards do the opposite...

crossfieldball - I wouldn't take what Snuff is saying to seriously. He is only fishing for bites.
On the topic of goalkeepers taking free's......who cares. If they do a job then no harm. The Dublin and Tyrone keepers are very good at it.
Anybody see hear Cluxtons speech yesterday....awe inspiring stuff ;)

Clever move by Mickey
The stop start nature of bringing Morgan up for all the frees fits perfectly with their tactics
It's all about taking the pace out of the game, stop, start, stop, start... suits Tyrone all day long
Not so much when they find themselevs behind though.. but in a tight game it's going to be a major advantage to them in the Championship
As could be seen yesterday, but if you can get ahead it'll become a disadvantage
I'd put 100 quid on right now for Morgan to be top scorer for Tyrone against Donegal
He'll be worn out by the end of that particular match...

1367419 I must admit I hate it. Its a waste of time. I agree that any play should be allowed take them but there shiuld be time limit.
this wont be introduced but would get rd of this problem. Btw snuff it is a bad sign when no outfield player can take a 45 so dont see why this guys comment sounded bad by the 71st minute. He never claimed cluxton wasnt good at them because he is but the time wasted by him and morgan is a joke. --------------------------------------------------------------- I didn't think Morgan was taking his time or wasting time with any of his kicks yesterday.Other players besides keepers some times do deliberately waste time especially if their team is winning and its near the final whistle. Its up to the ref to hurry them along.

keepers kick puts are vital and must find there target they train hard and practice this all the time so imo they should take free's if there accurate enough why not....

How long does it take a free.... 30-40 seconds max.... double this if a keeper is taking it....how long is left....the Cluxton point was great but it used up half of the 2 minutes added on time and Joe should have gave Kerry the extra 30-40 seconds extra it took.We will have to add an extra 30 seconds for every free a keeper takes...or he has to take it within the required time.
