2 Best Midfielders in the Country

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Because theres a thread for everyother position, except the goalkeepers. My two would be
Sean Cavanagh, dont really need to explain this choice, best attacking midfielder of the past decade
Aidan O'Shea, does serious donkey work and can be credit for much of mayos success in the past few years.
They would be some duo with Cavanagh attackin while AOS wud play a more defensive role.

I don't think Heslin is one of the top two yet, but he will be in a few years, he's definitely in the top 10 now anyway

Lads I honestly do not see what others do in John Heslin, he's good but he's not as good as many people are making him out to be. The two best midfielders i have seen this year are Johnny Buckley (kerry) and Sean Hurley (kildare)

Michael Darragh MacAuley & Aidan O Shea i think Anthony Maher is very under rated. Keenan and Brendan Murphy would walk on any side

Brendan Murphy is pure class, Id love to have him for Donegal. Sean Cavanagh is awesome where ever he plays so id pick those two.

Michael Dara a close third

Scramber, you obviously have seen Heslin playing. Since he was 16 he has been immense at all levels. Playing players of the field who are well over 10 years older. Since he has returned from Oz his discipline has also improved.

It all depends what ur looking for. I would go for maher and Walsh. Both can field, take scores and defend quite well. I would not have s. Cavanagh in d middle, put him in at centre half forward. Very few good all round midfielders about. I wouldn't have Michael d. McCauley In the top five!!!! Don't think he's a good midfielder, a good athlete, Yes.

For me the best midfielders are probably from the weaker counties. Galvin for Limerick, Clare midfielder (destroyed cork in Munster Final),Keenan from Louth, Murphy from Carlow. The Laois midfield partnership was also very strong last year.

Not much need for a discussion on goalkeepers. Cluxton is head & shoulders above the rest.

I think John Galvin when fit is the best midfielder in the country, hes absolutely unbelievable but he probably isn't the player he was with his 2 cruciate injuries.

Right now I think Aidan O'Shea is definately up there as is Aidan Walsh, MDMC is there or thereabouts aswells but he can be really clumsy defensively. Paddy Keenans a match for any MF in the country aswell, Sean Cavanaghs back on form aswell it seems.

If I was choosing 2 midfielders tomorrow though I'd probably go for Aidan Walsh and Aidan O Shea
