1365315 Look Offside, if you're going to research our croker record why not do it properly? Why do only certain matches count? Quarter-finals are meaningless are they??

If I may join this argument between yourself and Juno.....my first post so here goes.
Mayo and Croke park is not the issue, it is Mayo and Finals. There is no Croke Park Jinx on Mayo as it was pointed out quite rightly so that Mayo have and can win matches there. The problem arises when Mayo get into a final then things seem to go wrong i.e Pete Tong. If the Final was in Casement Park, Croke park, Castlebar it wouldnt matter. I think Mayo need a bit of Sports Psychology before the next final they find themselves in, it helped Steve Collins in the ring.

Fair enough assessment. I just can't stand it when people who havent done their homework throw out sweeping unoriginal statements like "its in choke park so that rules out a Mayo win". All teams love playing in Croker, and we love attending so often. I feel sorry for lads who rarely if ever get to see their county in action at HQ. Bring on Sunday!

Big time looking for revenge they've done us twice in semi finals we owe them one big style, some Dubs on here strangely don't mind if they beat us again , I honestly can't get my head around that one but anyway I will be sick if these beat us in another semi final. Come on the Dubs roll on Sunday

bluewave
but alternatively I think O'Connor offers little from play and we should Utilise this to our advantage.

And I hope jim gavin shares this view, so we can use it to our advantage.

Dublin win by 3 pts is how I see it , don't think previous games matter as much to players as it does to fans , we simply will not start as badly as semi,s and that being so i think we will be stronger over duration of game ,
Do think its a setback should either team lose , for the simple reason is I believe both teams Will be giving it 100 % , and its hard to dismiss a defeat if you fail having done this
Having said that setback is hardly fatal and both teams would be strong enough to bounce back .

I dont fall for all this talk of the league doesnt matter to Dublin or Mayo or any of the teams left. Its a chance to get some silverware for god sake. A chance to win something, for the counties name to go into the records books, an opportunity to go into the championship with some silverware already in the cabinet! Dont know about you but I hope we play our best against Kildare and treat it like a championship match - wonder if mickey harte thinks the same!

great post pal welcome to hoganstand!!!

I see Dublin 16th man has been rolled out for Sunday. From Sunday on Joe will take control of all matches for the rest of the year involving the dubs

Should be a belter of a game, Dublin are a good side for Mayo to play in ways because of their desire to play a more open game in comparrison to others this suits Mayo to a degree. Dublin are a good footballing side and mayo are not far behind, this game should be the best of the league so far, i expect to see some great points from all angles.

Football will be the winner sunday with Dublin probably shading it.

ClondalkinDub your disrespect towards Kildare is pretty stupid. Sure they havent beaten us, but they have come very close and they could absolutely beat us this year
Was it not you on the Dubs page a week or so back that was saying you would never play the cocky Dub card again..?
Well what do you call this?
There are only 7 counties for me can Win Sam and Kildare are one of them and for you to be so utterly disrespectful to them is really really stupid and bloody naive!
We have lost to much weaker teams than this Kildare team in the past.

Liam it's not being cocky it's being realistic , Kildare are not good enough to beat us and you can say whatever you like Liam but that's the way it is. On the other hand Mayo,Cork,Kerry,Donegal and Tyrone on there day can beat Dublin in championship football. Liam a 13 points hammering and it should of been more is an indication of the gap between both teams and please don't say they were missing players. Nearly all the Kildare posters agree with what I've said about them, there just not good enough right now but have very talented underage players coming tru. Leinster will be a cakewalk this year but after that the real challenge starts.

They all agree with you so that if they beat us later in the year they can goade you with it!!! Surely you get that!!!
Everyone of them to a man thinks they can beat us, and they are right. They can. 100%
Seanie could be that missing link

CD, Come in out of the fog! We have one all ireland in 18 years!!! ONE! We are not Kerry.....yet!!
Your getting fierce carried away altogether!

Hard to disagree with any of that.

Too often in the past Dublin haven't had to get out of third gear to win Leinster, bar 2011 I suppose, and what happened later that year is no coincidence.

I am being realistic CD !!!!
How can you possibly say there is no conceivable way that one of the best teams in the country might beat Dublin!!!
listen we are a good team.....but come on!!!
We are FAR from unbeatable and we are certainly not above being beaten by Kildare
Clon do you forget thet Loais, yes, Laois nearly had us last year!!!

Think he did.and he was poor in my opinion.the amount of time wasting and diving by the dublin players that day was a disgrace!!and whats more they were let away with it :)!!

Offside there is no clarifying to be done. In your initial post you said something along the lines of "Its in Choke Park so that rules a Mayo win out", meaning that Mayo cant win in Croker. We clearly can and do so on an almost annual occasion. Enjoy life in the basement Division next Spring. Feel free to slag us as much as you please, we can barely hear it all the way up here at the top table of Gaelic Football.
