(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

im with clondalkin on this one.
what if we dont win the all ireland at the end of the year I would rather have won one of the national titles on offer.
its april the league is on offer not the all ireland so lets go out and win it,the more troheys we win the better.

The question is what Mayo will do when they emerge from the dressing room. Will they take route Hill 16 or route canal end? I presume in their wisdom they will do their talking during the game this time round.

I assume you are referring to 2006. We have played the Dubs 3 times in Croke Park since 2006 and since the 2006 incident Croke Park officials direct all "away" teams the the Davin goal end while Dubs warm up in front of Hill 16.

Liam/wayne are next big game isn't til the August bank holiday. Forget Leinster no one good enough to challenge us in that so these games against Mayo and Tyrone will stand to us come August when the championship really starts. No disrespect to Kildare your a coming team but not good enough to beat us this year

Obviously my previous post jumped on your typo and was all said tongue in cheek.however it got me thinking and I decided to do a complete rundown of all games mayo have played in croke park in NFL semifinals and finals as well as championship quarter, semi and finals.it reads as follows

NFL
semi finals won 3 lost 1
Finals. Won 1 lost 3

Championship
Quarters. Won 4 lost 3
Semis. Won 3 lost 1
Finals. Won 0 lost 3

Overall that tells us mayo have played 22 games in Croke park since 2000,winning 11 and losing 11.
Obviously we win as much as we lose but I think we can put the perception of mayo as croke park chokers to bed.we haven't performed well in finals over the years but people are quick to forget about the other games played in order to get to the final.

And they say mayo supporters lose the run of themselves.already in the NFL final and the leinster won!

Good to see the dublin hype machine in full flow again.

I'm saying if we beat Mayo (I'm a massive admirer of this Mayo team) and maybe meet Tyrone then in the final it will be good tests for us

Ah I know!just giving you a dig!i think both teams want a good, close, high intensity contest on Sunday.if that happens then the losing team won't be too put out.the extra games are a great bonus but personally I'd love to see mayo win it out,it would do their confidence wonders.but I suppose that could be said for all four teams in the semis.

Westmeath are rejuvenated, they will beat Carlow and should put it up to us, If we get through that we have Kildare most likely), again a team more than capable of beating us , And them possibly Meath in the final who you can never write off against Dublin (should all teams i mention get that far) , But for now that is miles away.

We are lookin to the Mayo game and we all want to win it , But if we dont its no big deal. We have bigger games ahead, Our first championship game against W'Meath/Carlow is bigger in my opinion than any league game. That doesnt mean i wouldnt like to progress from here and lift the league title.

After Mayo's victory last year I'm sure the Dubs will want some revenge. In tooth it will be close early on but once the Dubs get the bit between their teeth they will gradually get the upper hand. There will probably be a bite to this game due to the recent history between the sides.

The question is what Mayo will do when they emerge from the dressing room. Will they take route Hill 16 or route canal end? I presume in their wisdom they will do their talking during the game this time round.

The winner of this game will most probably go on the life the crown.

?????? Mayo warmed up in front of the hill then proceeded to win the game. So they did do their talking on the pitch? No?

I wouldn't be going that far. We will prob be playing essentially a d1 team in our first game of champo and i'd swap a league title to win that game but both would be great! And btw that is disrespecting kildare.

Whatever Floops either way there not good enough to beat us and don't start about Westmeath beating us that's never going to happen.

I don't buy all this gamesmanship talk from my fellow Dubs and most of the Mayo men, I want us to win and I'm sure Horan & Gavin want to win aswell. Like it or not there is a rivalry building nicely between the two counties. I think in the original league game we surprised the Mayo team with our performance at centre field where we lorded primary possession. If Brogan plays Horan has a problem to deal with cause he has roasted Ger Caff twice this calendar year, does he switch Caff or is it 3rd time lucky. Mayo can win this game if they can prevent us getting goals as Donegal did, Im also worried about us conceding too many soft frees as Mayo have the tools to severely punish the scoreboard from placed balls but alternatively I think O'Connor offers little from play and we should Utilise this to our advantage.

It's a great game to look forward to as Mayo have improved since our earlier meeting but I want us to win.

its amazing to see so many of the same dubs on other thread predicting kerry to win the all ireland yet on here saying they dont really mind if we get beaten this weekend and dont win the league.
does that mean they would be happy that we dont win either the league or the championship?
the championship is 2 months away lets concentrate on winning the league first then turn our attention to the championship would be my thinking.

Fair enough Jono - on further reflection I am beginning to think maybe I am the jinx for your County as the games I have been at since 2000 must all have been in the 11 lost category. Think I withnessed 1 or 2 Mayo victories. Anwyay, in case this is the case I will stay away on Sunday and will be hoping for a Green and Red victory from home.

1364676 CD is a poison chalice if u ask me
dont show your hand too early
to me the league is an also ran of a competition
it just whets the appetite
we got all we need from it, we dont need to show our hand in May. The lads could do with a rest now and recharge for June
if i had my way there would be no plays off, no final, team who fnishes first should win and let that be that

IF we lose on Sunday with no injuries/suspensions I will be relieved

Load of crap.
Want us to beat mayo (who are a good side) and the play either tyrone or kildare.
These are the games ye should want to be at , same as ALL of the league games .then want us to win as many championship games as possible.
relieved if we lose on Sunday with no injuries/suspensions , give me a break.

Look Offside, if you're going to research our croker record why not do it properly? Why do only certain matches count? Quarter-finals are meaningless are they??

If I may join this argument between yourself and Juno.....my first post so here goes.
Mayo and Croke park is not the issue, it is Mayo and Finals. There is no Croke Park Jinx on Mayo as it was pointed out quite rightly so that Mayo have and can win matches there. The problem arises when Mayo get into a final then things seem to go wrong i.e Pete Tong. If the Final was in Casement Park, Croke park, Castlebar it wouldnt matter. I think Mayo need a bit of Sports Psychology before the next final they find themselves in, it helped Steve Collins in the ring.

I dont fall for all this talk of the league doesnt matter to Dublin or Mayo or any of the teams left. Its a chance to get some silverware for god sake. A chance to win something, for the counties name to go into the records books, an opportunity to go into the championship with some silverware already in the cabinet! Dont know about you but I hope we play our best against Kildare and treat it like a championship match - wonder if mickey harte thinks the same!
