Do some research mate and stop making yourself look foolish. You're knowledge of Mayo's Croke Park record is shocking.

Took your advice killer88 and did a bit of research in to semi finals and finals Mayo have played in Croke Park since 2000. National League - were in 4 finals, winning 1 and losing 3 (didn't check to see if they were in any semi finals over this period which were played and lost at Croke Park). All-Ireland, 6 semi finals played - 3 won, 3 lost and 3 Finals played - 0 won, 3 lost.

So that reads 13 played, 9 won and 4 lost. Not that I should have to be telling a Mayo man statistics about his own team, now that would be foolish!

Like last season dubbydave, we beat them comfortably in the league only to be well beaten in the div 2 final. I have a feeling a similar fate awaits.

I am sure if Mayo played in Finals like Antrim (Tommy Murphy cup) we would have more victories in finals. Antrim finished second last in division 3 and you come on and slate Mayo's achievements.

Oh sorry ballaghmen, maybe I misread the title of this post as I thought it was about the Mayo Dublin game and asking peoples opinion. I gave my opinion, it was jumped on by the Mayo men, I try to explain my opinion but shouldn't have bothered as then get the fool tag thrown and then when I check it up and shock horror my opinion is backed up by fact so now you come on and hit me with the old Antrim one. See, I am not delusional about Antrim. I know where exactly we are at and have been (or not as the case is) since the 70's. If it was my team who tended to more often than not fail on the big occassion I would be questioning why.

If you want to start a post on Antrim then go right on ahead, difference is you'd probably find more Antrim men on in agreement with you than taking offence.

Offside Rule:

I would like to draw your attention to the two post below:

1364142 Well the game is in Choke Park so that rules out a Mayo win unfortunately. Dublin by about 7 points.

Going by 'your research' on Mayos performances in croke park you have supplied statistics that show that mayo have won almost 70% of the games they have played there since 2000. According to your research mayo have played 6 semi finals which leads me to believe that they must have played (and won) 6 quarter finals also in croke park. This would make it read 19 played, 15 won and 4 lost. A 79% win rate. You have also conveniently left out league semi finals played at croke park but lets not add them in as i do not want to make you look anymore foolish than you already do.

Croke Park Chokers indeed.

In your original post you were not really discussing the Mayo/Dublin game were you. The reason Mayo lost these finals was nothing to do with choking in Croke Park but more to do with us not being good enough. When we are good enough, we will win an All Ireland. What I find very unusually is how Antrim have a habit of choking in their own ground casement. Mayo win more matches in Croke park or Choke as you like to put it then Antrim win in Casement.

Cheers jono - that was indeed a typo as it should have read 9 lost and 4 won which is a 30% success rate. As I said, I didn't include the semis as I didn't have the details on how many League semi finals Mayo played in, apart from the 4 they obviously won to get to the Finals.

However, you have prompted me to dig a bit deeper and I now have more complete stats for 2000 to present for Mayos semi finals and finals in Croke Park:

National League
Played 7 Won 3 Lost 4 (only some NL semis were played in Croke over this period)

All Irelands
Played 9 Won 3 Lost 6

Overall 16 played, 10 lost, 6 won.

You may be right but I suspect you are not. I don't have time now to do a comparison of Antrim games at Casement since 2000 to compare the success rate to Mayos at Croke Park in the semis and finals but I will put that one on the back burner for a quiet moment and get back to you.

Liam/Wayne wtf lads?? I for one don't want another defeat off Mayo in a semi final and neither will the players , it won't be good for confidence. We havnt won a league title since 93 I will be very disappointed if we don't win it this time mind you I'm gutted if we lose some pitch opening friendly game in the middle of nowhere. Come on lads lets get up for this and stop putting a downer on it.

Dublin to win, Kevin Mcloughlin is Mayo's true top player.

CD is a poison chalice if u ask me
dont show your hand too early
to me the league is an also ran of a competition
it just whets the appetite
we got all we need from it, we dont need to show our hand in May. The lads could do with a rest now and recharge for June
if i had my way there would be no plays off, no final, team who fnishes first should win and let that be that

IF we lose on Sunday with no injuries/suspensions I will be relieved

Agreed Kerryrowz, I've been really impressed with McLoughlin since I seen him last year. Wins a ton of dirty ball, tireless worker and scores a few points. He's up there with Galvin and Flynn in the modern day half forward style. McLoughlin is key in finding, fetching and feeding Mayo forwards ball.

I'm not , im basically saying we like other sides have bigger fish to fry

Of corse i want us to win the league, Of corse i want us to win sunday, But in the grand scheme of things i wont be that upset if we lose because our aim is the championship. League winners arent remembered down the line. Thats a simple fact. If i had to choose between prioritizin the league or Championship , id make the championship my priority.

But i do think we will win on Sunday

After Mayo's victory last year I'm sure the Dubs will want some revenge. In tooth it will be close early on but once the Dubs get the bit between their teeth they will gradually get the upper hand. There will probably be a bite to this game due to the recent history between the sides.

The question is what Mayo will do when they emerge from the dressing room. Will they take route Hill 16 or route canal end? I presume in their wisdom they will do their talking during the game this time round.

The winner of this game will most probably go on the life the crown.

Liam i don't understand how you see winning the league as a negative thing... how would you be showing your hand by winning the league? Rubbish!

In the last 10 years Tyrone, Cork and Kerry x3 have all won the League and AI double and the one time we made the final and got pipped by a point we went on to win sam!
