The player involved is a player who won Dublin supporters club young player of the year in the week leading up to the tyrone game. I had the pleasure of sitting with him and his girlfriend and had a good chat over dinner and he came across as a very nice genuine, down to earth young lad who made the effort to talk to the people around him. To now hear what has come out in the aftermath of the Donegal game has left me stunned. He should be banned if any truth is found in this (Yes truth, Not hearsay or speculation which is all we have to go on so far)

1363874 Just to point out....Even if the lad was bit, it would be worth finding out WHY he was bitten!!!

See McBrearty must have done something stupid himself.

Im not condoning biting....but its the constant niggling teams are at these days. Someones bound to react to nasty comments or cheap slaps and thumps. And the reaction however disgusting shouldnt be the only thing punished!

I guarantee McBrearty was not an innocent party!

Ps....how do we know hes telling the truth? His word against another lads. If the ref didnt see it, or other officials it will set a precendent for bans. If a lad says you for example, made a homophobic or racist comment against him, should you get a ban on his word only?

Why do you doubt your fellow dubs who have stated they have it on good authority that it's true?

Did you think Paul Galvin deserved to be spat at, can you guarantee he was not an innocent party?

i think what jay p should have said was if there was 8 thousand people, television cameras,a ref,two linesmen and four umpires and not one person seen the incident happening.
how is the player going to be punished?
how do the cccc determine that the bite wound came from that actual person?
is there any rule allowing a player to be suspended on the word of the victim alone?

the only way I can see the player being punished if he done this is by the player coming forward himself and admitting he did this on purpose or else you will have to have each dublin player do a DNA sample to see if it matches to make sure your punishing the right player.

Ah come on now jp. Fair enough there might have been something going the other way, maybe something quite nasty. I refer to thompson gouging kevin mcloughlin for instance in the donegal mayo game as an example. However, although we should hear the full story, it didnt give mcloughlin licence to bite him, just as is the case in this instance.

Also, as for it being one mans word against another, Im sure the reported bite mark might swing it, dont you?

Finally, after considering this for a few minutes. I cant help but wonder, is biting worse than gouging someone's eye, or spitting in their face? I would have them in the same ball park. The gaa need to make an example of all these instances right now. This sitting on the fence hoping it goes away doesnt cut it.

Disgraceful if true (which seems likely), lengthy ban deserved and an apology is due. If its as bad as it sounds then there should be no AI campaign for said player, the 'ban him for life' comments are a bit OTT though, its a disgusting act and he definately deserves a ban but I feel that would be a bit much.

You're an idiot. There's a big difference between niggling, verbals or a bit of shoving and spitting at or biting a fella.

Disappointed and disgusted.

However I'm more disappointed to hear that its not the first time a Dublin player has been involved in this sort of stuff. And no I'm not here on an anti Dublin thread. I've seen a clip that proves same so I'm not making it up.

not too many Tyrone fans jumping on the band wagons to ridicule another team and team fans on bad behaviour i.e for biting... which is refreshing to see.. you lot are sounding like extreme bore bags......'oh he bit' 'new low for the GAA'... b**lsh*t..blah blah.. there is a bit of rough and tumble in gaelic football.. things get hot and heated, sh*t happens on a pitch, leave it on the pitch and after the 70 mins forget. zzzzzzz bore bags

Lads, When it is proven (if it can be) a lenghty ban from all GAA codes must happen. I dont think the player in question will want to come back to Inter County even if he was asked. He will hang his head in shame. No place for this.
