Paddy McBrearty bitten by Dublin player?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I've held my council on this topic until the "verdict" was given and watched on here as others slabbered away over the last few weeks. This all leaves a very bad taste in the mouth (if you'll excuse a pun that's been bandied about the place a lot recently).

So we have an "innocent" verdict……. on what basis? (a) It didn't happen; (b) it did happen but there is a lack of evidence; or (c) it happened but the culprit is unknown.

If it is (a) then McBrearty has told a serious lie that has seriously tarnished another individual's character. If (b) it is a disgrace that the player that committed the indiscretion has not owned up and even more of a disgrace that the Dublin County Board have not dealt with this internally, swiftly and forcefully. Finally, if the reason is (c) it is also a disgrace along the lines outlined in (b) above.

The bite either happened or it did not happen. If it happened it was not the hounds of Baskerville and it was most unlikely in the extreme to have been accidental.

I have it on good authority from players who were in the changing room that McBrearty was indeed bitten on the shoulder during the first half. I have no reason to doubt this assertion for a moment nor has McBrearty anything to gain from making a false accusation, so as far as I am concerned it did happen.

Shame on does involved. Revenge will be a dish best served cold in Croke Park at some stage over the summer.

The problem with posters such as yourself Muckross is that your simply blinded by your own bias. You couldn't grasp the idea that any Donegal party could possibly be at fault. And in that, you failed imo to make a reasonable argument. From what i'm aware, and im open to correction, the Dublin player pleaded innocent and no evidence was produced to link him to any allegations. Its therefore reasonable to suggest that foul play is at play somewhere but unfortunately you appear to be unable to grasp that idea either. Can i prove that? No, at the moment i cannot, but its a logical conclusion to draw upon in the face of the fact that one party alleged mal-pratice and the other denied it. Also, the Dublin player would of taking a massive gamble to falsly plead innocent in the hope the CCCC could find no evidence. Has the CCCC surprised him with a video etc he wasn't aware of his reputation and intercounty career would of been in ruins. In my view someone somewhere whether in the Donegal or Dublin camp has imo not given the full facts. And in the first conclusive statement ive made on this thread, in the face of no evidence provided, Occams reliable razor imo places the blame in the Donegal camp. More than likely not the player himself i would add.

Donegal if they have an ounce of respect should publicly apologise to Kevin O'Brien.

The reason the authorities found as they did was that "the infraction as alleged was not proven" It doesn't mean he did, it doesn't mean he didn't. They are however quite right in their assertion that you can't convict a player without compelling proof & they felt that the evidence as presented fell short of the required standard.
Now what I would ask you to do is take that standard of compelling proof & apply it to your post which is as hopeless a mishmash of conspiracy theories, inaccuracies & libels as I have ever read.
How anyone could apply Occam's razor to the convoluted mess that you present as a case is laughable.
I will say again, I wish Kevin O'Brien well in the future & look forward to meeting Dublin later in the year.

Very embarrassing indeed. As a lot of us were saying, if he's guilty hit him hard with the puinishment but if there is little or no evidence, and we suspected as such, then let him play ball. What an unbelievable mess though.

Will Donegal be punished now for making false accusations?

Kevin O'Briens reputation has been tarnished by this.

A retraction Master? Would you be so kind as to why I would retract my statement? You are wumming it is that simple. I am yet to see a thread where you haven't.

I have also noticed on another thread when your garbage has been shown up for what it is by a fellow county man of yourself you just chose to ignore it. You are a joke of a poster with no genuine opinions just rubbish to try and be controversial.

Is it true the the Donegal player in question did not appear at the hearing. Surely the CCCC would have wanted to speak to him about the allegations. Very strange indeed.

And then you dont even bother to read back what was said! Ok then, lets play your game, what exactly am I 'wumming' about? Was it the part where I said mcbrearty had no case to answer? Or the part where I said the result didnt prove he made anything up?

I find the way the Dublin player has been treated as nothing short of a scandal. A number of us Dublin posters continually questioned this. There is a lot of anger in Dublin over this

There is no proof either way, but if the Donegal lad made this up;
it is a psychological blow that jimmy mcguinness could do without;
as he approaches the 24th May!

He got bitten on the way to the game on the bus.

Seriously, I had a feeling that it would end up this way. There is no evidence and thats that. It will be interesting to see how both players handle themselves this summer as a result, if it will effect positively or negatively on them. As for a made up story by McB.I would not believe that an amateur sportsman would sacrifice a full sunday evening to go to hospital to get injections etc etc. It will b a good test for him to see how he can move on.
