Colm O Neill

Sad to see that we are going to be without one of the best forwards in the country this year due to the dreaded cruciate injury. Having suffered this injury myself I know how hard and long a road it is to get back playing but to suffer it for a third time must be devastating and you'd have to wonder if he can come back again for a third time. Best of luck in the recovery and hope to see you playing again for the rebels!!

Awful news for Colm. And he's only about 22. You'd be wondering at this stage, after suffering the injury twice already, whether he's bother playing any more. The effect on his life must be terrble.

Terrible luck to do it once is bad enough but for the third time is shocking for him. All the best too him in his recovery...

Devastating news, 3 times is just cruel. Massive blow to Cork football but more importantly to Colm himself. One of the nicest fellas you could ever wish to meet, one wonders what he has done to deserve this. Please god he will return next year although I have serious doubts he will ever be the same player again.

Best of luck to Colm.
he was becoming the main fulcrum of the Cork attack. A forward of class and a great outlet for the Cork half backs / midfielders.
He was one of the forwards capable of still getting scores in what I thin is going to be an ultra defensive championship.

Hope he can come back as good as ever

Very sad news for Colm, Cork fans and in general football fans who will be deprived of seeing the Corkman play this year. Get well soon.

very bad news for Colm and for Cork football. I think he was playing some fantastic football at the moment and he will be a huge loss to the football championship this year. Good luck with your recovery Colm, and I have no doubt we will see you back in the Cork jersey again soon.

It must be very hard for him to take. There isnt a man in the 32 counties that isnt rooting for him.
In my opinion he should take a good long break before coming back. He is still only a young man, and has plenty of time. Let it heal naturally, and give it a good long rest. If he does that then I am sure we will see him having a fine long career at intercounty. This rushing and tearing to get back can have an adverse affect.

That's the point valley. I am assuming it's the same leg and that would be a worry for his long term health. I know two fellas in their 40's who suffered from knee problems when they played and who are now tortured with arthritis and constant pain. Doctors have told them they are too young for surgery within the next 5 years and would have to get it done privately.

Yes a cruel blow and a wonderful talent. The longer term as other posters have referred to is a concern also. Hope he makes a full recovery. What age is Colm?

Dreadful blow for a talented young man.

I do hope he makes a full recovery and can get back playing, but the full recovery first is most important for the man & his future.

A terrible tragedy for him personally and for Cork football. That it has happened 3 times to the same person though would surely beg the question why?
