Sam 2013: there are only 3 teams in the running

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

1. Dublin A
2. Dublin B
3. Donegal
4. Cork
5. Mayo

The latter two only because they have an easy run into the latter stages. Young Jack Mc Caffery, what a find for the dubs. Quality half back.

Kerry ahead of Tyrone dubbydave?

Gary Mc82

I honestly think Cork are hyped up too much. I can't see them winning it.

Yeah if Donegal or Dublin win Sam no-one can deny that they are great teams, Donegal retaining it would be a truly great achievement considering where they have come from. Don't think they will though.

Mayoboy, no one outside Mayo would agree with you that Mayo have the most talented footballers in Ireland!!!!!
Kerry still have the most talented footballers, by far.

This time last week, Donegal couldn't beat a Tyrone team that is rebuilding and Cork got their first points in the league with a first minute goal. Neither were being considered as serious contenders but suddenly their in the top 3 and only 3 capable of winning it. 70 minutes of football can be a hell of a transformation for some teams going by some on here. Question for all of you who think their is only 3 capable of winning Sam this year. Was Donegal in your top 3 this time last year, were they even in your top 6??? Footballs a great game, the unpredictability makes it so..

I think the All-Ireland Final wiil feature the two best teams in the country Donegal and Dublin. I think the difference will be the guiding hand of Jim McGuinness as Donegal win two in a row.

Liam i would usually tend to agree with you regarding Kerry having the most talented footballers. But I honestly feel, and this is in no way bias, that we now hold that status. There isnt a team in Ireland that have so many players that are just as comfortable on their left foot as they are on their right. Players like B. Brogan, A. Brogan, Connolly, Kilkenny...i could go on. I dont want to be hyping us up Im just calling it as I see it.

Donegal will not win two in a row,Dublin are hot favorites,BUT that will be bring it's own pressures,If Cork get most of their players fit, they could upset the Dubs..

Connolly, i hear you, but any time u see a team on the pitch with Marc O'Se, Tomas O'Se, Paul Galvin, Declan O'Sullivan, Darran O'Sullivan and Colm Cooper.....they are still the most talented bunch regardless of the inferiors surrounding them.
I dont think Donaghy is anywhere near as talented as those lads and i think in recent years he has been found out.
Where as NO ONE will find out Declan or Gooch
The 2 best footballer in Ireland.

It's March lads...

Dublin have been impressive no doubt but it's a long year and maintaining that level will be tough... Cork and Donegal will definetly be contenders also but I would not rule out Kerry... Or Tyrone.. or even Mayo and Kildare... certainly not in March

I'm sorry Uncle but you can rule out Kildare they have no chance of winning Sam this year and every Kildare supporter will agree with me here. It's not all doom and gloom for them doh they have a great 21's team coming tru with players that in time will turn into great senior players.

our B team would win the Connacht. Is that why you constantly post anti-Mayo rubbish on this?

Anti..rubbish??? it's called posting the truth and does it hurt? Mayo's A team fell over the line in the last two Connacht final's against two div 3 teams. Your A team needed extra time to beat London and in 2010 (less than 3 years ago) your A team were beaten by Sligo and Longford (div 4 at the time)

Lol at poster Gaa lover.

Winning Connacht twice on the trot maybe no biggy to some but what about knocking the reining champs out in them two years also? Ahh sure ya know there is no point in talking Mayo with you or your ilk.

I am looking forward to your reaction this summer when the Ross come to Castlebar.oh yes boy I'm looking forward to that one,I'm sure it will be of interest to your good "neutral" self.

I see only see 4 teams who will be in the running

This year we will see a Cork v Dublin Semi final, and a Donegal v Mayo semi final if all 4 teams win their respective Provincial titles and also win their quarter finals.
Now looking at all 4 teams, any one of them could win the All Ireland. Ignore league performance, I don't think it applies to the top 4 teams, such is their respective set ups right now.

Outside of those 4 teams, I don't think Tyrone, Kildare, Kerry or Down can beat more than one of these sides. To be clear, I think Kildare, Tyrone, Down or Kerry may well beat one of these teams, but I don't believe they are capable of going on a run and beating 2 or 3 of the top 4 teams listed.

Indeed, agreed! We might have a chance of ambushing one of the top teams and getting that win we have threatened to get over the last few years but that would be the limit of my ambitions for them. Hopefully the Under 21's can land a Leinster though.

Knocking out reining champs and reaching All Ireland finals is punching above ones weight you have to go back to 1996 since Mayo had a team capable of winning All Ireland. Why should neutral like myself care about Ross v Mayo game? at the end of the day you seem to have obsession with the rossies. let's be honest Mayo should be more than capable of beating a team on the verge of div 4 football comfortably however, imagine if Galway were to knock Mayo out .... that would send shock waves to some of the over confident (including your good self) supporters and so called all Ireland contenders.

Punching above ones weight ? Surely a team can only do this once? If mayo reach the latter stages again this year , will we still be in the punching above your weight category?

You have a right bee in your bnnet about Mayo, the proof is in your constant negative comments in relation to Mayo football. You're so obvious in your bitterness its funny.

Mayo to stay in div one and give the all Ireland a right rattle. If we get our trio back to full ftness our squad will be capable of giving any team in the country a rattle.

kerry ahead of tyrone!!!!

that list is in no particular order by the way!!!,also regarding kerry ahead of tyrone i just feel you can never right kerry off too many times we have seen them come in under the radar and we all know what they are capable of doing,as for tyrone they are playing good football but only time will tell and next up they have dublin, kildare and kerry so that will be some indication as to how good they are i just feel imo they are still young and its too early yet for them!!!!!

Not surprising some of the Mayo posters totally disregarding that they have the 'little' hurdle of May 19th before they face the Rossies. And as for the 'most talented footballers in the country' what is this based on i would be interested to know. Talent or otherwise the number of SAMs is what history remembers.
