Don't rule out they are gearing everything towards the championship. All Ireland is between Cork,Dublin,Donegal and Kerry. Outsiders are Mayo,Tyrone,Kildare they may have a decent run in the championship but none of them are currently good enough to win the All Ireland.

TheGateKeeper: ...Unfortunately for Donegal they are a one-man team, and will not retain the title!

Who is this one man you are referring to?

What a ridiculous thread! laughable to say the least. there are never just three teams in the running when it comes to championship!

Kildare are a shoe in to win Sam.

Now they have lulled everybody into a false sense of security they'll ambush the other contenders in summer.

Kildare all the way :-)

One man the manager i would have thought? without him Donegal would be getting hammered by Cork or knocked out of the Ulster championship by Antrim.

Dublin,Donegal,Cork,Mayo are the 4 favourites and there are up to ten other teams that are capabale of getting to the quarter finals, like Kildare,Tyrone,Down,Kerry and Laois are next and there are always a few teams who get a bit of momentum in the qualifiers. In one off championship matches anything can happen.Once you get to the qurter finals you don't know what can happen remember what happened in 2010.4 teams being genuine all ireland contenders is pretty good how many sports competitions across the world have the sort of variety. There arent too many that have had 5 different champions in the last 5 years

do people not remember 2009, it is way too early too rule anyone out, right up until till kerry met dublin, everyone was saying kerry were finished and dublin were the raging hot favorites for sam, point how can you rule teams out of sam when the champion season hasn't even started

Kerry should never ever be ruled out of the running for Sam. Long way to go to September.

Everything will change again after league finishes, then everything will change after first two games of championship and league will be forgotten in peoples eyes as regards championship contenders. Then list will be shuffled around again as the usual 8 teams are in the quarters bar maybe one suprise.

I think only Donegal, Dublin, Cork and Mayo have a realistic chance of winning Sam this year.

Mayo will be much stronger come the Championship, and like Cork are following more of a slow build up to the Championship with regards fitness training.
Dublin are on fire, and I believe they will maintain that level into the Championship season.
Donegal look more confident and while still needing more improvement before championship, they look like a major force.

As for the rest.....................

Kerry are in bad shape, even the return of The Gooch, Sheehan 7 Co won't fix that. Still better than most teams outside the Top 7 or 8, All Ireland Quarter final again beckons

Tyrone are lacking leaders all over the pitch, with the exception of Sean Cavanagh, Joe McMahon, Stephen O'Neill and Conor Gormley. They were leading by 2 scores ( 2 points ) at half time against Donegal, and won the game by 2 scores ( 1 goal, 1 point ). That meant 14 man, and eventually 13 man Donegal put away the same amount of scores in the 2nd half as Tyrone. Thats a shocking statistic, Tyrone should have destroyed Donegal. A poor follow up against Cork at home lead Mickey Harte to ask some serious questions.

Kildare are looking inconsistent like last year, and are way off winning an All Ireland. Like Kerry, they are still good enough to be in the last 8. But I don't see any silverware for them, not with Dublin on fire.

1347483 What about tyrone? One bad performance doesnt make a team bad and they were playing fantastically before the game against cork.

It is head scratching as to why Tyrone would change a winning team (5 changes) from the team that easily beat Donegal the previous week. Whereas Connihan had all the big guns on for Cork and a real defensive set up in place. Tyrone were a mere shadow of the team that acheived the three wins both in personel and attitude. Could I dare say it that Harte wasnt too bothered about winning against cork, was there a wee phone call the night before from a worried Cork manager asking for a handy two points to save the mighty Cork from division 2? Who knows....but to drop 5 regular players from the team against a tough opponent raises some eyebrows

I never hear you talk much about your own county? You very much seem like a Donegal man and you got your county wrong when signing up?
What about Derry - how are they getting on, plenty of leaders on the pitch?
