Under 21 Championship

Hard to pick a favourite but the 2 Three In A Row teams must be top of the pile and I would just pick Cork with their big physical men

Cavan second, good allround team with a few class forwards.

Galway who pushed this Cork team to a single point in the 2010 minor are not out of it.

KIldare who won nothing as minors and were lucky that Longford ousted the Dubs must be bottom of the pile.

Of course the bookies will reflect the amount of money laid. So with so small a support for Cork Football and Cavan not being the last of the big spenders and so many silly Kildare folk with more money than sense the bookies will give them a short price & laugh all the way to the bank.

You claimed that Ulster is harder to win than Munster. There are more teams yes so in one sense it is. However, if you want to believe that underage football is much better in Ulster than it is Munster then that is up to you. Hopefully you will get a bit of land.

Congratulations by the way. Outstanding achievement in winning three provincial titles in a row. Hopefully this obvious talent that you have will feed into what will hopefully become a successful Cavan senior side. No guarantees of course. Kerry's lack of underage success is not hindering them.

I see Kildare men on here are trying to change tactic by playing your team's chances down. You aren't fooling no one, we all know what you really believe. The Kildare county board have probably already sent in the order to O'Neill's to get the All Ireland U21 final jerseys printed.

yes I agree with you there. Ulster may be harder to win as alot of teams are of the same ability, however I believe The winner in Munster is nearly always stronger as has been proven down through the years at senior level. Galway have beaten Cavan at both under-21 and minor level recently in the all-ireland series and I believe they are very strong. To be Honest I don't know much about cork but that was a very big score last night so cavan beware. I have seen a few of the Kildare under-21s this year and they do look very very ggod. I wouldn't want to bet on kildare v Galway. However I will stick my neck out and go for a Cork v Galway final.

You're becoming a bit of a joke on here now ahsure. A real parody of yourself considering you obviously fancy Galway's chances. But anyway please find me one comment on this thread from a Kildare poster singing our own praises!

And the one thing you should remember is that in 2010 when Cork and Galway played each other in the All-Ireland minor semi-final Kildare were in the senior game afterwards and that was some game! Both teams played out of their skin, Galway scored five goals that day. If you think anyone from Kildare is getting ahead of themselves when we're facing that team you need to really catch yourself on especially after the way we fell over the line at the end of the Leinster final. We only scored a point in the last twenty minutes. And everyone expects a much tougher game than we faced in Leinster.

Don't worry about him doublehop, if it isn't Kildare then it will be Donegal. At least having a chip on each shoulder balances him out.

Doublehop, you may as well be p*ssing against the wind if the basis of your discussion about this Galway u21 team is on our minor football team three years ago. Players come and go and form changes. Five of the team in 2010 featured last Saturday evening so it would be foolish to compare.

So ye've found 10 players even better than who played that day? Jeez that's serious. Our minors didn't even make the Leinster final that year and we've almost the same team except we lost our best midfielder to professional soccer.

How do you expect people to take you seriously with posts like that? I mean you are the on going on about what Galway are going to do to Kildare.

I've heard from a reliable source that Galway have booked their hotel for the final already. We might as well not turn up.

As I've said, players go in and out of form and others lose interest so it balances itself out. In all seriousness, this is a big physical Kildare team and it would be fair to say that Galway are a light enough outfit. I know that it would be unfair to say that will be where the game is won and lost but it will have an impact. For Galway to have any chance we will have to do what we did to Cavan and Cork two years ago, quick fast ball into our forward line because there is plenty of pace and some decent ball winners inside (and history would suggest its what we do best). I think we will struggle in midfield if Tom Flynn (u21 player of the year, 2011) doesn't take the field but all indications suggest he will play some part at least. And Sedico, be serious would ya please?

Great 2nd half performance by the Rebels Wednesday night, some very talented individuals on the team but I have my doubts if we are good enough to win the All-Ireland. Cavan will be a very tough test.

8 Munster championship's over the last 10 years is a great achievement, REBELS ABU!!!

Both Cavan and us have now won three provincial titles in a row and neither has gone all the way. It will be heartbreak for the loser in the semi-final. That is sport I suppose. I hope we can do it, if not I will be rooting for Cavan (nothing against Galway or Kildare) all the way.

How many of Cork's 2010 minor team that reached the All Ireland final are now starting for their U-21s?

Kerry have won 25 Munster football u21 titles and Cork have won 24. Kerry dominated the competition in the 90's and Cork the same from the 00's until now. Will they over take Kerry for the number of titles won?

I also think this stat proves winning u21 does not guarantee success at senior. Look how many more senior titles Kerry have won compared to Cork.

This thread isn't full of people talking up their respective counties and telling everyone else how good they are (mainly because Donegal and Dublin aren't involved in the latter stages of this years under 21 Championship) so this thread has been extremely quiet as of late. But lads, the All Ireland Semi Finals are tomorrow. Lets get this thread going!!

Oh right. Wish you'd make up your mind. Only last week you were on about us talking up our own team.

Yeah, definitely looking forward to the match. Kildare were noticeably tense against Longford. Hopefully winning Leinster allows them to feel they can throw off the shackles a bit. Galway will be tough though. Probably a lot more experienced than Kildare at this level, certainly before a lot of the team flooded onto our seniors during the league in the last few months. We're a lot stronger up front than we are at the back so there's a feeling there we might be a bit vulnerable if a team dominates us around the middle which hasn't really happened this year. Galway seem to be strong enough there so expect this to be the key battle. Exciting time for both teams. Hopefully it's a good one. May the best team win!

I think Cavan will cause upset, apparently of there last three Ulster winning teams this is there best one yet while Cork were probably at there best in 2011. In the other semi final Galway have been lucky enough against both Roscommon,Mayo and Kildare are unlikely to be as wasteful in front of the posts.

Galway v Kildare: Galway always have very talented underage footballers, an excellent midifeld in Flynn and O'Curraoin. I first saw them lads play in the 2011 final and they absolutely flaked us, hard to believe they're still u21 two years on, but there you go. I'd imagine with this midfield they'll have enough to beat Kildare.

Cavan v Cork: Awful hard to call. Two contrasting teams, one big and powerful, the other light and quick. I do worry about our full back line under a high ball. Having said that we racked up decent scores in Ulster where traditionally defences are stronger, so we have the firepower to cause Cork all sorts of problems. With everything taken into account, the game will be decided at midfield. I'll go for Cavan by the narrowest of margins.
