Under 21 Championship

Two teams in Connacht would have to play 3 games to win it. 8 Leinster teams would have to win 4. Kildare were lucky to be drawn straight into the quarters this year although sometimes going straight in to that quarter final can be a disaster as you're facing a team who already have a win under their belt. Much of a muchness I suppose.

Most Leinster posters were discussing the Leinster Champ and would not have seen or know the Ulster, Connact or Munster teams and would have deliberately avoided mentioned them as to do so would have seen them hammered as big-heads assuming entry to All Ireland semis.

Now that Leinster Final has been played:

In Ulster Tyrone as 2010 Minor Champs were bookies Favs but Cavan in their 4th Final will be Favs for 3 in a row.
Looking through that Donehal team with McHughs, McB, McN they seem to have a good lot from the Senior Panel and most played McKenna Cup so I would not even dream of forecasting a winner. Whoever it is will be a major force in a Semi.

Connacht: Ros have been strong at Minor and could win but Galway have a habit of emerging at U 21 and of course have the hex on Kildare.

In Munster: Cork always strong with their massive numbers but this is the Tipp "Dream-team" so whoever wins it will be red hot favs for All Ireland.

Now Kildare are decent and will give a good accont of themselves as this group has since U 14 but are they good enough to win a sSemi or if they do to win a Final is another big IF !!!! I hope they are but will keep my money in my pocket !!!

Great performance from the boys in maroon. The Kildare hype will suit Galway, like it did in 2000 and 1998, albeit at a higher level of football back then.

Fair play to galway but I have no idea how we lost that final. open goal missed and 7 wides in a row when playing against 14 players. We threw it away and with it a possible all-Ireland. Gutted for them but they gave it everything. The smith sending off hurt us more than the galway sending off!

More rubbish ahsure. 98 probably, but Galway were the clear favourites in 2000 and rightly so. As for the Under 21's. They only scored a point in last twenty minutes of Leinster final. No-one's getting carried away with themselves. If Galway win semi-final it won't be because of hype it will be because they are the better team. Best of luck to both sides.

Not to go off topic but I fondly remember 2000 and much like every other occasion when Kildare get a run of wins, they get well ahead of themselves and that ultimately costs them. It happened in 1998, didn't learn their lesson in 2000 and hopefully again in 2013. At the same time, Galway are under no illusions, its a strong Kildare outfit who beat an equally exciting Longford team.

Hopefully it will be a cracker.

I heard we've already booked the open top bus for the day after the final and there will be a public holiday in Kildare on Monday May 6th. There won't be a horse shod or a stable mucked out in the county that day.

The best team lost yesterdays Connacht final. Game should have been won by us in normal time credit to Galway they kept at it and were the better side in extra-time. Around 9 or 10 of our team are underage again next year plus we have 3-4 injuries to players that will hoepfully be fit next year. The sending off our best forward Donie Smith was probably the turning point of the game though i still don't know how it hit the post with that goal chance in the 1st half. Anyways that's football we have plenty of top talent coming through and i wish Galway all the best in the All Ireland series.

Like Roscommon, of the team that was due to start for Galway yesterday, 10 are underage for next year including 5 of the starting forwards.

Very disappointing we let the game slip in normal time yesterday we would done well in the All Ireland series again if we jumped that hurdle. Will be interesting to see how the Kildare v Galway games goes.On the other side of the draw Cavan are talked about while Donegal are going about their business almost unnoticed they could spring surprise and the same with Tipp in Munster.

So ahsure is talking Kildare up & talking Kildare down & will then accuse Kildare of getting ahead of themselves, especially if anyone in the county dares predicy anything other than a cake=walk for Galway & heaven help us if a Kildare flag should be sighted !!!!

Shure Kildare would not keep it kicked out even if Galway put out their Under 16 team !!!

From the sounds I'm hearing Donegal, with full concentration on Tyrone & May 26th, wont bother in the Ulster Final & Cavan will hammer everything in their way & win the all Ireland

KELP, I think its fair to say that midway through my own post I started believing of Kildare's own hype. Fascinating.

Was at the game Saturday evening, I don't know how Galway won that game. Roscommon had some bad misses in the second half of normal time that really cost them. Galway's insistence of handpassing around their own half-back line and full-back line caused them no end of problems. Ian Burke was outstanding and his 3 points in extra-time were crucial scores. Hopefully Daithi Burke will be back for the semi-final. Hard luck to Roscommon.

Cavan V Kildare Final and too close to predict the winner. Cavan are knocking on the door a few years now and on that basis I will just give them the nod.

ahsure I think you'll find that Beir was being ironic in reaction to your silly post alleging Kildare hupe before the meeting of Galway and Kildare in the U21 semis. Definition. i·ro·ny

Looks like i somewhat overrated Tipp! Cork will still do well to beat the Ulster champions (probably Cavan)
