Great players never to win an All Ireland

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I know this has been done before but I was looking for something a little different. Its always players from Laois, Kerry, Westmeath etc that are named but who are great players from the likes of Cavan, Donegal, Tyrone, Longford etc

basically any top player from the smaller counties since the 70s or so when teams such as kerry dublin really started dominating...odd exception here and there with mutiple winners especially from ulster counties in the 90s but none were exactly small counties

When it comes to hurling, there are probably loads of great players who never even got the chance to play in the all ireland championship.let alone win one, because of where they were born.

Peter Nolan & Paddy Molloy are two of the greatest ever from Offaly who missed out and I concur on Gerry O', brilliant player, gentleman and also brilliant in his prefession in his short few years working in Offaly. Add Dermot Earley to the Ros list.

It could even be listed for county with Many all irelands.. in Kerry Connie Murohy ahs an all star and an all ireland club but no Senior All ireland, Timmy Fleming, Anothony Gleeson, John Cronin and Pa Dennehy, great players who played for years with Kerry but got no recognition because they were not on a winning panel

Yes and Gerry O'Malley mentioned already and Tony McManus weren't far behind him.

How come when someone posts a new thread like this one that the presumption is that it's about football ? A boring thread to be honest.

Ill ask the question in an other way then. In the days for the Railway Cup would there have been player from the likes of Sligo, Roscommon, Mayo and Leitrim that won medals with Connacht? Or Armagh, Cavan, Donegal, Fermanagh, Monaghan, Tyrone that played with Ulster i assume there would have been player from Down and Derry. With Leinster players from the likes of Louth, Longford?
