Big win today for DIT against the holders and favourites DCU.

Menton had a stormer today, and in fairness he's been impressive so far this year for DIT at fullback,

The Mayo lads played great too, O'Shea dominated midfield and Doherty must have kicked five or six points, the backs did well to hold DCU pretty much scoreless from play bar one or two points.

Thought the Cavan lad Givney had a good game too, won a lot of possession and kicked two good points.

Not bad for team that were 8/1 to win it at the start of the year.

Busy weekend for him. Sigerson semi today, sigerson final tomorrow, Railway cup final Sunday.

Any more players in the same boat? I guess Murphy would have been had they won.

Did DCU try to stem the tide at all when losing at midfield so badly ?

Wasn't really much they could do to be honest, McCarthy started in midfield and Flynn was dropping around there too, they brought the Ballymun midfielder (Dave?) Byrne on in the second half as well but there wasn't much he could do. Would be unfair to say they were feeling the effects of the club championship or the interpros from the weekend gone, they were just up against the better team.

Dean Rock was the only scorer from play for them, just couldn't get enough good ball into him but he looks like a serious player, looks a lot more physical than when he was on the Dubs under 21 team a year or two ago I'd say.

Big win in the end for UCC, 1-20 to 1-9, really pulled away in the second half.

Should make for a good final tomorrow, one high scoring forward line against a defence that only conceded one from play.

After DCU's underhand tactics on Monday backfired in that they only galvanised an already tight DIT unit i can only say i am delighted!
Menton was outstanding at fullback keeping Murphy scoreless from play! Hon DIT! No cows milked on Aungier Street tonight!

Tipperary players Peter Acheson and Conor Sweeney both playing very well for UCC. Would be a boost for Tipp if they won Sigerson Cup medals tomorrow. I would say it is a good few years since a Tipp player won a Sigerson. Best of luck to the 2 lads.

DIT deserved their win today. DCU didn't play to their ability, such a pity, because they were within 2 points of them. Noticed a lot of media over hyping DCU in the past 2 weeks, DIT slipped quietly in under the radar. THey have jsut as many county players as DCU. There seems to be a big anti-DCU brigade out there. Fair play to DIT, good luck to them in the final. Please God Givney will do the same for Cavan when we face Meath next week, and hopefully he will be playing in mid field. Martin Reilly did ok and Ross Sheridan scored a nice point. Young Jack Brady played well on the DCU side, very strong and solid on the ball, pity he wasn't allowed to play up front. He's a Good playmaker. Killian Clarke had a good first half for Athlone too.

Well done to DIT, outplayed UCC for the entire match, they had it easy in the last 10 minutes. Thought David Givney was man of the match ahead of Bryan Menton. All the hype about DCU is the same as every other year, DIT arguably had a stronger team on paper.

Well done D.I.T controlled the game from the start.

Delighted to see Bryan Menton play so well and get man of the match. Might stop some of the sarcastic comments like those from lily pad yesterday.

UCC were fairly disappointing overall, but credit to d.i.t they deserved it. The 2 goals in quick succession made the difference. O'Connor cause serious trouble for full backs.
