Is there any TV stations ever going to cover the Club Championships in the English language as I have to say it spoils it for me as a non-Irish speaker. TV4 have so many good GAA matches e.g. Club Championships, U21 All Irelands, etc. which have been top drawer this past year. A sister station or a red button option would be great where the matches could be watched with English commentators. Brian_Coyote (Antrim) - Posts: 346 - 05/12/2012 13:55:12 1306769 Link 0 |
In fairness that's not TG4's remit and if it wasn't for them the games wouldn't be on TV at all. doublehop (Kildare) - Posts: 4172 - 05/12/2012 14:04:10 1306775 Link 0 |
TG4 provide an excellent service and should be promoted to keep doing it, not complained about. Where were RTE for all the years before TG4 to show it? Exactly. Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 05/12/2012 15:01:02 1306806 Link 0 |
They are doing a great job. Write to them and ask them to put a red button option for English commentary if you wish. I don't see why they should bother, however. I am glad that they dedicate time to it. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 05/12/2012 15:06:06 1306810 Link 0 |

mesamis is spot on i rather not having commentary i hate it much rather go to games not have to hear them. hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 05/12/2012 16:52:38 1306874 Link 0 |
Yes it would be great to get rid of the commentary and just have the stadium noise, the tg4 commentators aren't the worst though and certainly better than rte. bad.monkey (USA) - Posts: 4649 - 05/12/2012 17:05:32 1306888 Link 0 |
if marty and ger canning are commentating yes and ryle nugent or somebody its better to hear the stadium ffgg (Longford) - Posts: 2571 - 05/12/2012 17:08:07 1306892 Link 0 |
Don't get me wrong I totally agree that TG4 are providing a brilliant service with great coverage of GAA matches. Also agree that Rte have dropped the ball due to finances or otherwise. I just like to know who the lads are putting a name to a person rather than discussing the matches with friends and calling everyone by the number on their shirt. You think young people think RTE is a cool station ! and that's why the All-Ireland series is so popular . I like that , all the cool kids staying in to watch the late late show and listening to the Marian Finucane show. bad.monkey (USA) - Posts: 4649 - 05/12/2012 18:56:40 1306976 Link 0 |

TG4 should be commended for their coverage of Club and National league football having the commentary in irish dosen't bother me as i have a few words of our native language, however, if your local team is playing their is an option. Sky is approx 4-6 seconds behind reality. What I do is pause sky plus, log into the local station of the team that is playing online, the online radio is approx 8-10 seconds behind reality, therefore you listen to the match on your lap top and when the ball is thrown in press play on your sky plus, then the match on the radio and tv are in sync. I did this for the Crokes game last week with kerry Radio. Perfect. Horsebox77 (Kerry) - Posts: 5491 - 05/12/2012 20:49:49 1307033 Link 0 |
