Great win for Oulart today. I don't think they'll slip up against Kilcormac/Killoughey in the Leinster final.

turfcutter we are not all the same as Thurles blue here in Tipperary, I for one would like to see the Wexford lads now go on and win the All Ireland would be a huge lift for the county. Some how I also find it hard to see Thurles Sars being beaten and find it even harder to listen to Thurles Blue.

Nice win for Oulart, hope ye go on to win the whole lot now. Still some great matches left in the competition pity they have to play them this time of year. With the Gaa making new formats for the League and Championship at inter county level time is right to sort out the club schedule.

Totally agree. The club championships are actually more entertaining than the inter county ones (in my opinion) and should be better structured.By the time the semis come around Ive kind of gotten out of the swing of things.

@thurlesblues

Your last comment presents very little validity as if you look closer ballyhale have captured 13 county titles, 7 leinsters and 5 all irelands, but what makes this even more impressive is there mere existence since 1972... Compare this to thurles whom to be fair do have 32 county titles but have been a recognised club since the 1880s! I won't add up the stats but percentages speak for themselves!

A great win for Oulart today who will hopefully push on to bigger and better victories, who can hopefully break their leinster hoodoo and puch on for an all ireland title!

Agree with most of the sentiments above. The club hurling championship is much more entertaining than the intercounty one with games a lot more even. If the Kilkenny county team went 1-3 up against Wexford, you would say game over but not so when it is the respective county champions (this is a good thing). Well done Oulart. You beat James Stephens last year and now Ballyhale but have no trophies to show for it. Don't slip up in the final ! (I have nothing against Kilcormac Killoughey)

I know Ballyhale have won the All-Ireland club championship 2 times and Thurles have never won it.
Il make a statement that Thurles will win it this year and the team being so exceptionally young I will also go on to say that they could win 4 or 5 of these club championships this decade

You say 'exceptionally young' ???? that mean they are a team of under 16's or what?? plenty of them lads have been around a while as far as I can see.

There is no reason as to why Thurles wont go on and win the AI and many more... but there is one chink in their armour. Your predicting it!! Anytime you have made similar statemtns in the past about Tipp or Thurles you have got it completely wrong and end up looking very foolish and end up having to go into hiding for months with the shame. Lets hope the jinx of Thurles blues dosent bite again!!!!

You have to remember that James Stephens and Ballyhale are not kilkenny. At the end of the day the club championshp is so much different to intercounty and club hurling is a different thing. There is no need to have an inferiority compex against another club just because of the county they are from

Agreed. And Oulart do not. That is exactly the point I am making. There seems to some degree of inferiority among teams that play Kilkenny (for example in this years league final Cork went 8 points down to KK inside the first 10 minutes and gave up despite having 60 minutes left to play, Dublin did something similar in the championship). Thankfully that does not extend to club, minor or under 21. If there are enough victories over KK teams at different grades then hopefully at some stage we can get a competitive intercounty senior championship soon. As somebody else mentioned (joncarter I think), KK will stroll to All-Ireland success over the next few years at senior level.

Ballyhale do indeed have 5 all ireland clubs,Birr 4,Portumna 3, James Stephens 3,Athenry 3,Blackrock 3,Glenrovers 2,St Finbarrs 2,Sarsfields[Galway] 2,Loughgiel shamrocks 2 and the remaining 13 clubs have got one each. Not one Tipp. club in the top 10,not much to bragg about there Thurles.Roscrea 71,Kilruane 86,Borrisileigh 87 are the only 3 Tipp. clubs to have captured the Tommy Moore...

well I looked at the board the other day and thought the debate over ballyhale and thurles sarsfields was extremely premature given ballyhale hadnt bet oulart yet.A mighty win for Oulart yesterday and a massive boost for hurling in the county. There were people from clubs with massive rivalries v Oulart vocally cheering them on which was great to see.
It was a thrilling match,if Oulart didnt win yesterday then they could have threw their hat at it because they missed several goal chances, but their 6 backs were absolutely outstanding once they and midfield got to grips after a dreadful start.Shefflin was quiet throughout and Stamp was doing well on him,him going off was obviously a boost but he wasnt playing that well up to then.Midfield Oulart struggled a bit but found their feet and dominated their patch once they did.TJ Reid was obviously a massive loss but if's and but's,if Oulart had took their goal chances they would have been out of sight.
As a wexford man,I am delighted they won it.I dont for one second believe that a chap in kilkenny is a better hurler because of DNA and I am so sick of losing to them I will take any victory over them.
If they win next Sunday,I think they will win the All-Ireland.And I sincerely hope they do.

Congrats to Oulart, it was a terrific finish by them to nudge out Ballyhale. The club championship is really heating up now

What a game. Oulart dead and buried after 6 minutes, or so the whole ground thought. But this team have been nearly men for so long, they stood up and battled back into it. Their 6 backs were absolutely magnificent, Shefflin wasnt getting an inch off Darren Stamp and although going off injured was a massive boost to Oulart, I still think the could have won it regardless. Once Rossi got to grips with Colin Fennelly and Oulart gained control in midfield, they started to pull their way back into it.
The 2 disallowed goals were crucial but I think the referee got both decisions right. Up front Oulart will need to be far more economic and take goal chances they missed at the weekend if they are to go all the way, but at this time of year a bounce of a ball can be unpredictable and the ones they missed were breaking balls stuck on a sodden pitch.
Great to see a Wexford club beating a Kilkenny one. Shefflin going off was crucial (and TJ Reid absent) but should any team be reliant on a 34 year old?
One thing is for sure - Cha Fitz still is good enough for inter county, Cody would be making a big mistake not to go to that well again I believe.

Well I note turfcutter that multiple irrelevant messages from a certain poster were removed, as long as site administered properly I love this board and the debate with genuine GAA people, not wind up merchants looking to drag a thread off topic!

And I couldnt not congratulate my fellow county men. There representing the county now and although we enjoy a massive rivalry with Oulart it is great that they won and hopefully go all the way.

Congrats to Kilcormac/Killoughey. Flying the green, white and gold for their own parish and Offaly.
Seems like there wasn't too much talk about them on this forum...
