Are "hurling people" anti-football?

I was referring to Sambo's book Midleton where he portrayed Munster especially in an unfavourable light for hurling snobbery and made reference to Tipp and Cork alike.

I must try to get hold of that book and have a read. I'll make inquiries at my local library. What's it called?

it comes down to hurling people havig an inferior complex of football realy they see football being played in every county bar kilkenny where as hurling only has ahandfull playing the major competition they seem to vent their anger at football lads instead of the admin people of the gaa.
i support both but football would be my first game always far more exciting i think as too many hurling matches re one sided even yesterday the two top teams had such a huge margin between them its very rare we get agood game of hurling anymore where the game is still in the balance in the last few mins, thats why when we do get one its proclaimed as acracker despite the quality of the game maybe not being that great

The book's called ALL OR NOTHING and I think you can get it on Amazon. It is a good and honest read and of course you can't sweep a broad brush against any county or province but I do recall he was scathing of many Tipp people after the 89 final and he wasn't too enamoured by the antics of some Munster fellas in the interpros AND he did make reference to Cork if I recall.

Ridiculous statement.

Plenty of football people have a negative view of hurling and plenty of hurling people have a negative view of football.

No need to make sweeping generalisations man.

There is a lot talk of hurling snobbery and I'm sure there is an element of that exists, but in my experience I have come across more examples of football people being anti hurling. There is a disdain for hurling in ulster. Whilst the normal man on ground is entitled to his opinion, it annoys me when officials, who are supposed to represent all aspects of the association, show no respect for the game. This manifests itself in poor fixtures, treatment of county teams, provision of paid coaches etc. I could handle a bit of snobbery!

As all Great footballers say, WHO WAS CHRISTY RING?

Its a shame Aidan Walsh doesnt share the same thought as Christy Ring and chooses the football over the hurling

Sure he won everything mainly due to the fact he played hurling, A sport only play by a few counties so the chances of winning are increased. How many All starts would Henry Shefflin have if Kilkenny played football and he was the star player in Ireland. Half, because Even if Kilkenny were a great footballing county they would not be making all irelands every year and there would be more competition for the All Star unlike Hurling where like Joe canning he won one bacause who he was, nt how he played that year. An all star in football is something special, hurling just isnt the same, its like getting on the hurling club tam of the year in Mayo, no one is really bothered. Gaelic is Ireland's number one sport and always will be

you must have only read that one line as i stated i am a football and hurling supporter and my reason for saying they feel that way is because of the lack of quality teams in hurling there is only 5 or 6 teams who can compete and at that hurling matches in the last 5 or 6 years have become very one sided its rare to have a close match.just on apoint if as people here are saying football is for people who cant play hurling and that hurling is much more skillfull then why is it that football has far more people going to watch the matches then hurling does?

Everybody bar football people are anti football as it is deplorable to watch, lads getting all stars without kicking a ball all year, prefer to pull out my teeth than watch it.

I love both but I prefer hurling over football.

I believe hurling is a better game to watch but football is definitely a better sport to follow

It seems hurling will never have the wide open competitiveness and unpredictable outcomes that football does.

Hurling has always been too monopolised by a small number of teams and they will always have to yield to football in that sense.
