Kildare Will Win the All Ireland

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

They can't seem to catch a break but by the law of probability they will surely be on the right side of a fortuitous win at some.

Limerick are no mugs, that will be a tough match but they should scrap through. I'd fancy them more against Sligo. I think they are good enough to win an all-Ireland.

I'm sticking with my prediction from the start of the year though, I think cork will do it, I know not a bold statement.

Maybe if Donegal, Dublin, Kerry, Tyrone, Cork and Mayo aren't still in it...

Ha ha, Donegal and Mayo, I hope we get to have a crack at either or both, I would be very confindent, after our practice games V Limerick and Sligo we'll be hitting top gear from then on in!

The facts are and all joking aside , kildare are too slow to win a all ire, they have bulked up this year but have lost a bit of pace. They will need to regain that pace if kildare are to shock one of the bigger teams.

Practice games? Oh I seriously doubt it. If Kildare are to come out the right side of either of these games you will have worked for it. Limerick are a good, dogged team who don't know when they are beat. I think this game could swing either way. If you do meet Sligo well again they gave Mayo a torrid tough time and I think Mayomare genuine AI contenders this year. I just don't think it will be as easy as you and others think.

There are plenty in Kildare who take Limerick very seriously. I was at the match a couple of years ago down in Limerick and it was no cakewalk. They also beat Meath well, before that. Kildare were nervy enough for the first 10mins against Cavan resulting in them getting the first 2 points. A similiar start against Limerick I think will be much more costly and a lead will not be easy to claw back from them. If we do beat them we will not take Sligo lightly either.

Good to see St Conleth! I think Limerick have taken Kerry and Cork to the wire over the past few years and have been very badly hit with Galvin's injuries. I really think this could be a greats game.

I remember now why I haven't posted here in so long!

Having wind up merchants / kids who put down Kildare as their county and go spoutting rubbish like this, that probably rely on the 2 minute highlights on the Sunday game to form an opinion, doesn't do the reputation of our fans (on this board anyway) any favours.

The vast majority of true Kildare fans have their feet firmly on the ground, and know that Limerick will be a big challenge, as it was a few years ago. It's very unlikely we can make a good push on for the AI this year, but with some tweaks to the team and some a lot of luck we could make it to September, as could teams on a similar level such as Mayo, Tyrone, Meath & Donegal.

I think a Kildare team, with no record of winning anything in the last few years, are favourites for an AI.

Finally every other team has now been lured into a false sense of security regarding our All Ireland chances... Thanks to Meath for helping us out along the way...

Only took 84 years but we're on the final straight now.

Kildare are one of about half a dozen teams who are capable of winning an All-Ireland but it is extremely unlikely this year as the competition is very stiff. Dublin are defending champions, Cork look back to their best, Kerry are Kerry and Donegal, Mayo look like their on the rise not to mention Down, Meath, Sligo etc who are all flawed but dangerous teams.

unfortunately kildare has a sizeable section of dreamer fans. The honest kildare fans know that we have yet to prove we are more than a top 8 team. I expect us to make the quarter final and exit for the same reason we do every year, lack of natural forwards. With space and time our forwards do ok but against Donegl, tyrone, cork or dublin in the heat of the championship that space won't exist and our forwards will have to move from decent up to match winners and that is unlikely to happen. Our strenght, workrate and discipline will mean we will be close but the scoring threat wont be there at the crucial moments and we will come up short in a tight, exciting game. But these are the players we have and we have made huge strides in recent years and they give us a decent summer so no real complaints. But dublin will dominate leinster and someone else will win Sam. Not mayo either for the record, a bit like us, a nearly team outside connaught.

I had high hopes of Kildare being in this years AI but after their last two games
its not going to happen. There well behind Cork Dublin Donegal Kerry i would have them
on par with Mayo at the Moment who will be gone at the qf stage
