I wholeheartedly agree Hteam. Culann talks the talk, he makes all the right noises, but his actions tell a different story. As breffni pointed out, the tone of his posts are quite different to the spiel he explains them with afterwards. What is this nonsense about the language of the gael? I am a gael, and my language is english. That is the spoken language by 99% of the people of this country, the language that we speak in our daily lives and in the ordinary normal schools up and down the land. We dont have to go to a special school to learn it to a decent level, unlike our antiquated native language. Hardly a ringing endorsement for our actual use of it, as opposed to this pretence of use that so many peddle. Are americans any less american because they dont speak the languages of native americans? This snobbery that has developed around the irish language is really annoying and personally I am embarrassed when I see fellow gaels indulging in it in this type of one-upmanship charade. You can see them think of the sentence in english and then work out what it is in irish before speaking, and for what reason? To be seen to be speaking irish.
