Greatest ever u21 hurling team

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Myself and the lads at work are having a big debate on who were the greatest u21 team of all time...me being from Limerick thinks 00,01,02 teams....one being from Tipp thinks 2010 team and the other being from Cork thinks their 66 or 97,98 teams.

Who in your opinion was the greatest u21 team(i think its save to say it's not any Kilkenny team) :)

Well, actually, the kilkenny team of 2003 or 2004 hammered tipp in a final, cha fitz was captain. Any team that wins an-ireland is gud, with underage hurling its hard to say who team is the greatest.

ya we were tryn to come up with a way of judging to see how we cud compare fairly. its very hard with underage teams.so we forget about what happend after u21 because if that were the case id have no argument. i think the majority of them limerick teams deserve the credit. 5 players won 3 all-ireland u21..thats no mean feat

Which one of them Limerick teams are you picking ? i would say Tipperary 2010 even though i think Clare should have beaten them in Munster but when Clare had the chances Tipp stayed in touch and never looked back after. Would any Galway team be rated as best ever since they only have 2 games to play. Thought the 2007 Galway team were very good hammering the Dubs in the final also liked the Waterford side of 1992 with Sean ' the Growler' Daly.

Didn't Kilkenny play in 5 out of 6 all irelands between 2003 and 2008 winning four. That's a fair achievement at any level especially underage. A number of that team went on to win Senior All Irelands so that in my opinion would be deemed the greatest achievement. Saying that Galway played in 7 out of 8 finals in the late 90's early 00's and only manged one win.

The greatest under 21 team in my view cant be a team that won two or three titles as it is a different team from year to year, maybe other people see it different. no point saying this country were in that many all Ireland from such a time. one team in any one year is the way I would see it, for me it was the Tipp team in 2010 because im a Tipp man but other people will see it different for there own county, Clare had a super team that beat kk a few years ago. The waterford team back in 92 I think did an awful lot for hurling in Waterford. Very hard to call, I hope they never get rid of the under 21 championship, always serves up at least one cracking game every year.
