KELF that was as blatant a 21 yard free as I have seen. Jesus I thought Honan was 1 step short of giving your man a piggy back.

6 of 1 and a half dozen etc etc. Honan had a hold of Kelly's hurl and dragged him on top of him. Seem them given either way.

Watch it again. Honan clamps the defender's arm and throws him to the ground to get the free. Ref was unsighted but in plain view of the umpires who did not take action against Honan but should have. As Nicky English said..."a well engineered free". Awful shame to see this happening in hurling now as well but that seems to be the way things are going.

Clare were better team Lohansredhelmet. You are dead right, but I think any team losing against 14 men is seen to have thrown the game away.

Firstly well done to Clare and Davy Fitz. The Banner was alive and well last night in Ennis. They had the fire in their bellies and met the Dublin challenge head on. The goal was the deciding factor as it gave Clare the momentum to fight harder than ever. The ref was codded and gave the easy decision, but the finish was good. Their defence stood up to all that was thrown at them in the final quarter and they had the legs to stay the pace.

Dublin were again poor by the standards that they set for themselves. The paucity of their attack and the poor finshing of their forwards was disappointing. The wrong options were taken by their players and the Clare defence harried and worked hard to limit the Dubs.

So what now for Clare and the Dubs? Clare will need to replicate that performance to get past the next round and they are definitely capable of doing well and the age profile of the team certailty bodes well for the future of Clare hurling. Well done to them! A powerful display.

As for Dublin, it was a poor display and following on from their game agaisnt Kilkenny the jury will be out for a while on what went wrong. Anthony Daly has brought them to a new level and it will take time, perseverance and determination to get to the level they have set for themselves. Whether Daly is the man to get them there is a matter for future debate. Dublin have put in the right building blocks and it is a matter of confidence from now on for the current players to lift themselves again and make a bolder bid next year. Hurling needs the Dublin team and especially Leinster needs them to power on and be a threat to Kilkenny as Wexford and Offaly have slipped a little in recent years.

Any team having been 6 points up, playing against 14 men, hitting 13 wides then losing the game, defintely threw it away. It was there for the taking for Dublin. They were the better team up until the red card but didn't have the fight or the scoring accuracy to finish Clare off. Well done Clare though. Would like to see them push on from this.

Joxer I suppose it depends which side of the fence your looking from.Dublin will feel they threw it away whereas Clare will feel they dug deep for the win and deserved it!!

Ah no winning All Irelands is progress, but if it makes you feel better to think other wise you go do that.

So you think an underage set up that has teams getting to finals wether they win or lose is not good progress? Specially a county that use to never play hurling.

How many finals have they actually got to? All Irelands that is. We've been told Dublin have a great underage setup if its that great they would have the All Irelands to back it up!

So if Kerry got to under 21 and minor all Ireland hurling finals and winning Munster titles you would not see that as progress for a county like Kerry?

no its a step backwards actually

Tipp got to the munster final and All-Ireland final in 1997 and lost the two games to a great Clare side so I wouldnt call that progress!

For a county like Kerry yes it would be, but thats not going to happen anytime soon. Progress for Kerry at that level would be to win a game! However at B level the level Kerry are at they have made progress by winning All Ireland minor & Under 21 titles. People on hear have said Dublin can contest All Irelands at this level yet they haven't done that have they?

So bloody what if Dublin haven't won AI's yet, its a mystery why it means so much to you, maybe its just your deep down glad. If we are so deluded as to dream and strive for the holy grail so be it.

Ya but we've been hearing for years how strong Dublin are ment to be at underage and still no All Ireland whys that? Ye look down on other county's who try to progress at there own level yet turn a blind eye to the fact ye have done very little to shout about
