id say Peadar Byrne will probably be deployed as a midfielder, most likely one anyway lifebuoy (Cavan) - Posts: 628 - 09/06/2012 12:39:06 1190220 Link 0 |

The gameplan at the moment seems to be to play with 3 midfielders, Gillespie, Reilly and Meade. If one gets injured we could just play with 2. Or Menton could be moved to midfield. Or Peadar Byrne, or Damien Carroll or Eoin Reilly. Lots of options. Not traditional midfielders by any means but that is no bad thing. Above all midfielders now need to be fit and mobile rather than just tall and good at fielding high balls. anfearbeag (Meath) - Posts: 1134 - 09/06/2012 13:04:27 1190229 Link 0 |
yes but our midfield been fast and mobile is not going to stop carlow fielding the ball.its no good been mobile when you dont have the ball. bobjaffacake (Meath) - Posts: 1400 - 09/06/2012 13:12:40 1190232 Link 0 |
If they spread out for kickouts, one in the middle and one towards each wing (even make the odd run into space) it gives options. In the past (pre-Wicklow match) we were pretty much kicking everything down the middle making it easy for the opposition to anticipate and crowd out our high fielder. As a Westmeath fan I would love nothing more than Carlow hammering Meath, but that won't happen. Bal1991 (Westmeath) - Posts: 95 - 10/06/2012 12:43:57 1190763 Link 0 |
