Why do we need Brian Farrell to take the frees when Bray is there, and plus Farrell shouldnt start anyway in my opinion!

Did you see Bray taking frees during the league? A total non runner for me.
and as for Farrell not starting, what exactly does he have to do to deserve his place? 4 points from play last Sunday.

i take it you havnt been to many of meaths league games this year.In my opinion brays missed frees cost us 2 matchs this year which would have kept us up.bray is a super player but is no way a good enought free taker at this level

I have to agree with Jinxie regarding Bray with the free kicks, he is not reliable enough and we have better options with Ward or Farrell. Let Bray do his stuff running at defenders taking a few scores and leave it at that.

ONe thing I can see which is encouraging is that Meath seem to have a stronger panel to pick from than we originally would have thought. The only issue we have is I am not too confident that we have a plan B if things start to go wrong around the middle of the pitch adn If Reilly goes out there and gets marked out of it we are in trouble.

Brian Farrell has earned a starting place, no question about that. The partnership between Farrell and Sheridan was devestating at times against Wicklow. Both players have matured, always looking for each other, much less selfish than previous years. Both good in the air. Give it another match or two to really gel and the two lads will be putting goals on the scoreboard, something we didn't do enough of in the League.

Graham Reilly should remain at 12 where he can feed off the big midfielders again. That means either Bray or Gilsenan at 11. Should be the Oldcastle man but it might be Bray with Gilsenan roving out around the 40 aswell.

If Carlow have been watching our game against Wicklow I'd imagine they'll have Murphy follow Brian Meade everywhere. Probably try crowd the middle to prevent Reilly running at them too. If we get by Carlow some new will be needed for Kildare or Offaly.

They may well try block up the centre to stop Biggy running, but that should leave plenty of space inside of an aerial assault on their full back line and feed Joe and Farrel & whoever else isin there. Possibly Ward for the goal threat if thats the route being taken.

took the words right out of my mouth Jinxie. I would not have Bray taking the frees and also I think Farrell deserves his place after the last day. I thought he had a good performance and worked hard.

weather its cian ward or brian farrell that end up taking the frees next week i still think it might be a idea to bring david gallagher up to take 45s.i could be wrong but its worth trying

Why would you have Gally take the 45's?
It's not like Wardy struggles to get the distance.

I agree with Bobjaffa's back lineup leaving out McAnarney - he has been turned too easily in the last few games defending..so go with
1d.gallagher
2 d.keogan
3.k reilly(capt)
4.o harrington
5.m burke
6 b menton
7.d tobin
Heard from a reliable source young Shane O'Rourke is out for 2 years - unfortunate lad - he had a stormer in the middle last year v Louth in Cavan.
Referee v Carlow is Barry Cassidy from Derry, so hopefully ner too bad....

carlow should have no problem seeing off meath.............they beat louth last year and we all know what louth did to meath recently.................i'd really love too see carlow doing well but particularly at meath's expense

Jeasus thats an awful chip on your shoulder there Gammy! Come 6 O' clock this evening you can put mark No. 55 on your wall, and make sure you leave space for another marking off another 55 years!!

You have a point regards Carlow, they will be delighted to have a good crack at us and could catch us by surprise! With this Meath team we cant afford to take anyone for granted!

lads Meath were lacking confidence at the beginning against Wicklow, the more the game went on the more confident they got, they just needed the win. One or two of Gilsenan and Bray will be back, and I'm confident Meath will destroy Carlow..

Meath 3-14
Carlow 0-8
