Never seen the lad play. Is he any relation to Ciaran Lenihan?

yeh ciaran lenihan is one for the future alright but will be tough dislodging keogan or burke or tobin in the half back line, id put him as 4th choice after sunday unfortunately

Are we suddenly that good we can afford to drop a forward who scored 4 points from play?
Don't talk nonsense.

Normally no, especially since two of his points were particularly good and he is also a good back up as a freetaker. But then with hopefully Bray and Gilsenan available for selection it isn't that straighforward. Wicklow have a poor enough full back line, so some perspective is also needed. I'd still start Farrell, but with Gilsenan and Joe also in the FF line, that would mean dropping Cian Ward. Only one place available between those two players in the FF line. As Stephen Bray, Graham Reilly and Alan Forde my best trio elsewhere. Assuming everybody is available for selection.

A question to the lads who are proposing Farrell be dropped for the next game.

Was Joe Sheridan better than him on Sunday?

well when they moved Joe out he done resonably well! whilst Farrell done nothing in the second-half! And they would be better off with Bray or Gilsenan instead of Brian Farrell and Mark Collins, and then Keoghan started instead of Alan Forde!

Yes, but if he was to miss one early on or possibly two in a row, I could see Farrell getting the ball thereafter. '45s is another story, Joe may have to get some practice in (off the ground). You'd think we were winning a dozen frees a game that only CW could convert the way some people try to justify his inclusion. Anyway if Alan Forde is an injury doubt, maybe there will be a place for all top forwards past and present.

But overall, over the course of the 70 minutes? For Me Joe was quite poor. Even when he was moved out in the second half. Joe kicked one point, but there was also 2 poor wides under very little pressue, and apart from one pass to queeney I dont remember him gettin on the ball more than that.

But i didnt see Brian Farrell do to much either i know he scored three points but the ball was just handed to him and he couldnt have really missed! But one of his points were very good!

Cannot keep some people happy. A man goes out and kicks four points from play and in my opinion, was our best forward, people call for his neck because we have two returning players. Give the man a chance, there are others on the team who i would consider to be under performing. I remember at two stages in second half he tracked back to the full back line twice to try turn over the ball, I believe he has the desire to be a big part player, when he is on song, a cert for me, no matter who is fit.

Jinxie, I feel when Stephen Bray plays Joe will receive a better supply of high or accurate ball and with Paddy Gilsenan alongside, things far more likely to happen. When that ball came off the post it was Joe who was in the right place. Just unfortunate he was virtually on top of the keeper by the time he got to kick it. Maybe a bit rusty and a lack of composure, but he did show late on that he has too much talent to leave out. Things happen when Joe is about the place and that always gives us hope.

is there really much point in playing our best team against carlow ? i mean kildare will obviously have scouts to watch the game so i would personally go unchanged with keoghan going in for the injured seamus kenny . i would much rather collins on the wing as i think he was a bit overun for such a small in stature lad , it was unfair on him , i know u may say a good footballer is a good footballer in any position but give the lad a chance he is only back from injury

I was going to say either Farrell or C.Ward but i think Ward brings a bit more to the team even though he didn't score as much as Farrell. But the difference Farrell played of Joe for 3 of his 4 points the other was a good one. Gilsenan would play better of Joe and brings more to the team.

My team would be
1. David Gallagher
2. Mickey Burke
3. Kevin Reilly
4. Donal Keoghan
5. Shane McEnarney
6. Bryan Menton
7. Donacha Tobin
8. Conor Gilispie
9. Brian Meade
10.Mark Collins
11.Steven Bray/Alan Forde
12.Graham Reilly
13.Brian Farrell
14.Joe Sheridan
15.Cian Ward

I would leave Paddy Gilsenan and Bray out for the carlow game, as it will give them more time to recover from injury, thats hoping we win the carlow game, and the rest of the team should stay the same, except for Keoghan coming at corner back for kenny, and shane Mac moving to wing back.

You could also argue that Bray and Gilsenan having a (recent) championship game under their belts (albeit against Carlow) ahead of a meeting with Kildare is better than none at all.

Jinxi, I was supprissed to see Farell on the team sheet. But i agree with you Farrell led the comeback and had a very high workrate as well as kicking some fine pints. In fairness to joe though he just looked a little rusty. Class is permenent and form is temporary and Big Joe is class. He has done it for meath when it matters most. Farrell probably did run out of steam but there was a fair tempo to the game in first half on a very hot day. Will be interseting to see what he does with bray as the two boys did seem to read each others game pretty well. One swallow doesnt make a summer though and i would like to see Farrell back up that display against better oposition.
