11200 in Ballybofey today for donegal v derry.Great attendances in Ulster this year

-------------------------
The Galway v Roscommon had attendance of 12,000 most their weren't happy with the poor following & you think 11,000 at a Donegal (ulster champions semi finalist) is great crowd?

Given that Derry are the worst supported Ulster county by far and allowing for the fact that 5.00 on a Saturday is ludicrous. Oh aye and it was pissing out of the heavens. 11000 wasn't so bad

11000 is good considering the above and it is a quarter final in Munster there was only 900 at the semifinal between limerick mad Clare plus the game was televised and the gaa were expecting 8000

some turnouts are shocking some are good. 30 for stand is a joke but for the meath games so far the price has been good. the big test will be croker 2 weeks time. a few years back meath v dublin first round would sell croker out now i don't think they could do it with meath, dublin and the second best supported leinster team atm (kildare) with a few more heads up from wexford.

why didn't they put dublin v kilkenny as a double header with dublin v wexford and put meath v kildare either in croker as well or in a provincial ground.

i suppose its an all football semis day is what they see it is and means the winners in both games get same break to the final, which is fair

I completely agree with Bettystownroyal..... €30 is a joke. The hill is not an option for a lot of people especially those of us with kids. It's only a provincial semi after all. If they want to get attendance up they should look at their pricing. You would have thought they'd have learned from the Div 1 & 2 league finals when it was empty. A family of 4 at €70 is too steep in this climate. There is no incentive for people to go especially if the matches are aired on TV. They pride themselves on being a family friendly association but for a lot it is out of reach.

I remember being in Croker a few years ago to watch Wexford v Offaly in football & Wexford v....................................Clare, I think, in hurling on the same day double header, so that has been done

But those games were qualifiers, Hillman is right in that football would be the better double header as we're talking about 2 provincial semi finals competing for the same final as opposed to qualifiers in different competitions

Still, what you're suggesting would be sweet for fans of the Dubs. Although there has been days where Dublin hurlers & footballers in Croker on the same day if I'm not mistaken and Croker is still half empty for the hurlers and only fills up for the footballers, which is a pity to see

Well we have our seniors hurling today and our minors hurling tomorrow. People will continue to stay away unless such madness is not allowed to continue.

you could have both games on together which would prevent laois supporters, (scarce) from seeing both their teams, unless you had limerick play in wexford also

32,000 at cork v tipp. good crowd and 16,000 at down v monaghan i think? any of the other attendances for the weekend? i'd say there will be a very big crowd at the final two ulster games this year.

and as said above the 15,000 odd in the mayo v leitrim game and for dublin v kk im nearly sure it was 12,500k so overall btr it was a good weekend for attendance and next week should see a good crowd also giving its a double header...

yeah bit of a dodgy attendance at portlaoise the stand was full and side terrace 3 quarters full and plenty behind either goal if was only 12 thousand that would have ment it was more then half empty i dont know where 15 thousand extra people would have fit haha

dhorse I'd say there wasnt 20 Laois supporters in Wexford park today.

Also it's hard to satisfy everyone, but where possible the majority should be accommodated.

There were way more than 12,000 in Portlaoise and Cork looked jammed to me. Creative accounting :-)

The attendance yesterday down in the park was very good best of the year in fact and that includes a double header in Croke Park featuring Dublin. The only thing that annoys me is that the park isn't able to handle big attendances and with the Munster final on there in 3 weeks time it is clear a new stadium is needed in Cork.I know many people who just want a nice spacious modern 30,000 to 35,000 stadium and don't want another big block of a 50,000 seater which we already have 4 in Munster alone.Alot of Cork people would have preferred to drive to Thurles for the game rather than having bruised knees for the next few days

Looking at the telly there looked to be plenty of open spaces on the opposite side from the camera.
I think having one 50k stadium in each province is more than enough, and no bigger ones are needed.
