exactly a lot of northern teams are better supported despite the fact half of their communities hate the GAA and won't follow it.

of course were the richest hill16no1man. we are the high kings of leinster so naturally enough we are well off. i'm amazed a poor county (relatively) like donegal would bring as many if not more to a semi final in croke park compared to meath. although if meath won the leinster title twice on the bounce and took a team like kerry in the quarters i'm fairly certain we'd have the same support if not more than donegal.

exactly so you are basicaly saying they are bandwagon supporters but yet when i suggested this last week you tryed to say donegal had the best supporters of any county now you just said if meath had the success they would have the same bandwagon

yes but we and donegal have good support anyway despite the fact (well in meaths case) we haven't been contenders for 10 years now. i was just saying the support would be huge if we had any chance of an all ireland. one of the things i was giving out about was counties that don't have good support even when they are going well like kerry and cork. you don't see man united fans not bothering to go to a match just because they've seen there team win 10 leagues in 20 years or whatever they've won.

man utd have a fan base around the globe where as cork and kerry fans are all from their countys if the gaa was world wide kerry would have the same kind of supporters as man utd glory chasers

You use the excuse of lack of funds for Donegal supporters not attending games all year but then you use the same argument to throw a dig at Kerry and Cork supporters, who have almost the same distance to travel, and who are in Dublin every year.

just re read your post..... where the hell did you get it into your head that they haven't traveled in big numbers this year? they put kerry and cork to shame. you had the same distance as them so no excuse getting outnumbered 5/6 to 1. i was saying that its amazing they travel in such big numbers because after all they are not the wealthiest bucks in the world.

Tis easy for them when they don't make it to Dublin too often or live down the road like Meath. Cop yourself on, ye're a suburb of Dublin, same as Kildare.

Just to clarify Betty, and I'm not having a go at you, but you were talking about the big games. Now Donegal played Kerry and Cork in Dublin, two big teams, that had a part in their massive suuport too, would you not agree? I mean, if they were playing the likes of Limerick, etc, it wouldn't be seen as a big draw and wouldn't catch their imagination in the same way as a game against Kerry or Cork would.

Kerry has suffered just as much economically as Donegal has, we are all struggling. If Kerry didn't make a Quarter Final or Semi Final again until 2022 then there would be massive crowds travelling too.

donegal had far more games to play this year than cork and they have been in croke park a fair bit over the last decade. I don't think it would matter who they were playing they would have still half filled croker by themselves. did kerry bring 40,000 for all ireland semi's of the 00's after there period of absence from the late 80's to the late 90's? No they didn't so you have to admit the people of donegal are coming out to support them far better than you ever have!

BTW hill16no1man they are expecting between 60k and 70k for your semi? what is happening to the dublin support? If say Kildare had beaten cork and played donegal instead the attendance would have been 70k - 80k? Dublin GAA fans are losing interest to other sports it seems or just losing interest in general.

If it surpasses 82,000 I will come on here and say it's enough, anything less and you will be slated. I imagine 10 years from now they won't even open the hill except for finals if this downward curve is anything to go by.
