1240068 they clearly are. dublin have half the country and only have to stroll down the road to get to the game. you couldn't even fill the hill or come close to filling it. and in terms of revenue virtually all the donegal fans were paying higher prices to sit down. half the dubs always go to the hill.
anyway they have 3-4 hours to drive thousands of them fly home from britain for these games and might explain why they don't go to many of the others. it's the worst hit county by the recession and they put other counties to shame including meath, kildare, dublin with the size of their support. i also find their games to be way more exciting than dublins. maybe your huge fall in numbers is to do with gilroy playing that boring version of puke football unlike donegals total football version of it.
oh man your unbleivable a few weeks ago leitrim were the worst hit with emigration now donegal with recession haha now thousands of them have to fly home for matches hahahaha do you listen to yourself. you also complain about the hill not being open for any other county apart from dublin and yet it was made clearly available on sunday and the four countys choose to pay more money to sit in the stands with only 500 hill tickets sold. they played derry at home in ulster this year and there was 11 thousand at the match and they only had to travel down the road as you put it so if you cannot see where im coming from by saying they get big numbers but only for big matches you would want to read my post again. also you now think donegal play an exciting brand of football and its wait for it TOTAL FOOTBALL haha im sure pat spillane is your hero as this time last year they were destroying the game according to you

Interesting that 52,000 at Dub v Laois & Mayo v Down & over 56,000 at Kerry v Donegal & Cork v Kildare. Gives a lie to the assumption that the Dubs draw the biggest crowds & that Kerry supporters don't travel to support their side. Croker was awash with Green & Gold on Sunday.

I'm afraid that was the Donegal crowd you saw!!! There was a max of 5,000 Kerry supporters at it.

Dublin still had the biggest crowd out of the 8 counties over the weekend Followed by donegal the kildare then Kerry the test of the counties where quit poorly supported Jist on a mathematical point - out of the 32 counties Dublin population makes up less than 20% of the total Dunno where an earlier post reckons Dublin has half the population
P.s. it wad great to witness the delight on the faces of the donegal support on Sunday

For a start I never said Leitrim were the worst hit and if I did I've no facts to back it up but they would certainly be in the top 5 counties along with Donegal. Both are counties that suffered even when we were in the boom. and i can guarantee you over a thousand donegal fans came to that match from abroad. post and thread on their forum and ask them yourself if you want. i've not complained about the hill not being open and i know it is as i've been there for meath dublin games, dublin v another county games and double headers with the 2 of us playing but not this year.
and my point about them paying more money refers to the idea the dubs fund the gaa. it is a fact that donegal brought a lot more money into the association last weekend than the dubs. 99% of them went to the stand where as half the dubs go with the cheaper tickets.
in your first game at home against louth there was about 15-20k dubs at it so you can hardly make fun of 11 going to a pre-lim match in ulster. you say they only had to travel down the road but 90% of the dubs that go to the games either walk to it or get some form of public transport. it takes an hour to drive from one side of donegal to the other and the roads are the worst in the country. hardly much of a comparison. last year for meaths qualifier home games there were crowds of almost 20,000 and for the meath galway game there was almost nobody from galway there. it costs a lot more for people to travel to croker so that kind of explains it. your attendances are not great and if all your games were in a stadium at least an hour away there dublin turnout would be shocking considering half the population.
and where the hell do you get that last sentance from? i never said that about them last year you're confusing me with some other meath poster.

There are countless variable when considering each county's attendances for each individual game. Yes Dublin has a large population but it is no where near half of the country's unless your talking about just the South, and if you are I'm afraid your supporting the wrong association. The biggest thing that people forget when talking about Dublin's population in relation to crowd attendances is that there is a huge amount of people that are from other counties.

There was 70K at the Meath Dublin Leinster final and people on here at various times said that the Dublin /Meath rivalry had died and wasn't the same as it used to be. Four counties including the Dubs could only pull in 52K on saturday!!

Was very proud of the Donegal support the last day ! Its not easy to afford to go to these games.. 30 for adults, 5 for children for a start. then diessl/ petrol for the 3-5 hour journey depending on where in donegal you live (luckily im pretty south so its no too bad of a journey, aout 3.5- 4 hours, but if your up north it'll take youn up tp two hours just to get to south donegal !).cost of food and drink for the journey and at the game, hotels if your staying over. keeping the waynes occupied for up to 10 hours on the road ! Was great to see such heavy donegal support! And the atmosphere was brilliant.. donegal chants could be heard throughout the whole game!
At the finbal whistle, the crowd wrre just brilliant.. hugging, cheering, jumping and the odd tear shed ! And people saying "what are donegal at.. its not th all-ireland they won" dont understanbd. sunday was just proof of what jim has done for us and how far we have come over 2 years, that can not only copete with kerry in croker but beat them. the hills of donegal blasting out in croke park was fitting as we cheered our heroes as they warmed down and waited until every last player had left the pitch !
Maith sibh dhún na ncgall.. ar aghaidh linn anois! Tiocfaidh ár Sam ;-)

the hill was open on sunday and only 500 people from the four countys involved opted to use it we always hear people complain about ticket prices and it unfair that the dubs only get the hill well why didnt they avail of it on sunday instead of paying more money to watch the match

Thought Laois had a decent crowd Saturday evening considering their population and the fact they haven't been up to much over the last few year 7,000 estimated to have gone...Donegal were superb and theDubs in fairness turned out in force...The booing from the Hill on the Laois frees was sad to see and a bit cringe worthy...

as i said above i was not complaining i was just stating the GAA made a lot more money off Donegal being in the quarter than Dublin. And if a team is playing Dublin why would the fans go to the hill. The abuse you get is just not worth it.
but back to my point, ok maybe there were very few there from laois. but there were even less from cork the next day. and kerry were just as bad. then there was kildare who weren't much better supported than mayo. but in total there was still more at the donegal game. my point is donegal shouldn't be able to come with 15,000 supporters of dublin yet alone beat them. they have a 4 hour drive on average compared to a 20 min walk/drive/train on average for the dubs.
i realize meath's support isn't great although it is better than most counties but you have to face the facts that Donegal are the best supported team in Ireland!
Imagine if they all lived within 30 mins of croke park. they would nearly fill the place.
