It's only tuesday and already 12,000 tickets sold for the Connacht final. More interest than the Munster football final it seems.

I'm sure you all saw the Stats published by the Credit Unions during the week
Half of Ireland's population (1.8 million people) have a disposable income of €100 or less monthly after bills are paid.

I don't think that memo has reached the Munster Council yet. Hence they see nothing wrong with charging €30 to watch last Sunday's Munster Final, which with respect was always likely to be fairly one-sided and came less than 24 hours after both counties were playing hurling qualifiers.

The GAA authorities will generally try to justify the price of match tickets by comparing it to other forms of entertainment. The problem there is you don't want your match-going supporters to attend just the one game each summer, you should want to attract them back and attend as many games as possible.

So take a Cork supporter as an example who has an interest in watching both codes. He or she is not just considering the 30 euros to get in last Sunday, they'll need to account for the 20 quid to see a qualifier last Saturday, the 25 quid for another qualifier this weekend and please God a couple of trips to Dublin over the next 3 or 4 weeks.

People have to pick and choose their games now, which kind of brings up legendzxix's point about the Championship structure. Attendances for provincial games will suffer if people are inclined to save their money for what they consider to be more meaningful games later in the summer.

The neutral support is being kept away as well. People who might usually take in many games and not just their own county's are going to be more selective of games.

I believe the crowds are good this year - just poor in munster - but this has always been the case, i once watched cork v tipp in a munster sfc game in the late '80's in front of 1,500, the 1994 munster final had a very poor crowd while last year had a very poor crowd for the munster hurling final.

lets face it the munster f. c gets too much coverage when you think that the ulster hurling gets no coverage in the sunday game and gets comparitive crowds to the waterford v clare munster sfc

20 thousand at thurles for the triple header yesterday wasnt great
limerick v clare in the gaelic grounds would have got 15 thousand on its own i would say
also considering cork had 13 thousand the week before v offaly i would not say the triple header was a success when you throw in the football curtain raiser

hill16no1man I think Wexford brought undoubtedly the biggest crowd.
To be fair, Saturday afternoon/evening games dont suit everyone either, but when can you play them I suppose.

hill16no1man footballers were poor, they were afraid to take a shot at goal and looked to be lacking a game plan. Tipp were the better team and deserved the win.

A lot of the Wexford crowd left after the Wexford hurlers match, 2 games is enough but a lot of us dug deep for a third one!
