The Leinster final crowd was poor as well. How may people will be claiming to have been there in the years ahead?!

Slapping 35 euro on the gate would turn most KK supporters off legendzxix, and I'm sure it didnt help the crowd from Galway either. I'd say in years to come it'll be like the amount of Offaly people who were there in 1982, even ones that werent even born!!

51longago I think you'll find we have had the highest supported games of the year so far even beating some double headers which were held around the county

do explain? as dublin had 33 thousand average attendance for league matches and 31.5 thousand at first round and 48 thousand at semi final

9 thousand is terrible attendance for munster final today but it was flagged its not coming as a surprise they only expected 10 thousand at most
also found it strange that the munster council did their best to destroy the walk up crowd in limerick today by slapping an extra 5euro on any ticket bought on the match day seems a strange idea.just did anybody see the footage of 1992 when clare last won a munster football final the gaelic grounds was packed that day v kerry i would have expected clare to bring a big crowd again considering they are only a short distance across the limerick border

Hill that's just a little bit below the average for the four teams in the Leinster semi finals and only 1000 Dubs travelled to Ennis yesterday

come off it so now your saying that beause there was four teams playing that they all brought equal amount of supporters?
anybody who watched both games on tv or was there will tell you the truth their was about 500 wexford at most and about 12 thousand between kildare and meath sure the ground only filled up after that match meaning around 35 thousand dublin supporters.

Of course there was hill and there was only 1000 fans from Clare in Ennis the rest were Dubs. You just can't help sticking the boot in can you?

who am i sticking the boot into?
im just telling the truth, just because four countys are does not mean they bring equal amount of supporters.
no there was around 8 thousand clare there and 2 thousand dublin at that match.
your only using 1 thousand because the media said 1 thousand tickets went to dublin clubs but they dont factor in ticketmaster or tickets.ie or supervalue as you can buy tickets through any of them also or outside the ground, dublin hurlers have never had a big support like the footballers

I'd say last week there was around 3k from wexford 7k meath 9k kildare and about 29k dublin. Give or take a few hundred from each county It was disappointing all around from other 3 counties. Don't know if it was cost, lack of interest, or what
I'd say the leinster final will be the first big attendance of the year. I'd presume around 60k to 70k. So that should buck the trend, meath are already represented in both senior and minor and I think its a safe bet to say dublin will also be.

There may well be up to 70k at the Leinster final but how many of them will be Royals do you reckon? I'd love to see 30k Royals heading in supporting the both seniors and minors but my guess is there will be somewhere between 15-20k of us at most, hopefully a few more will turn out though, it is a final after all!

There is talk that the Ulster Council is going to reduce the price of tickets for the Ulster final. This is prob due to the fact Donegal are playing and it wont look good on TV with empty stands.

For single games hill I think Cork were almost at the top if not top in terms of attendances prior to yesterdays leinster hurling final for championship 2012. It was 23k for football and somewhere around 36k for our hurlers in munster championship. The Dublin games were double headers so incomparable really. The 10k at the munster football final was poor but it was always going to be a non runner and the trip to Limerick was not going to be worth it. On the other hand the approx 1-2k Dubs that went to Ennis was a little more worrying I taught as that game was a do or die and surely had a bit more edge to it but maybe the dubs are not as big travellers as I taught.

That won't bother anyone from Donegal or Down!

GAA should try get double headers as often as possible, especially when both counties are playing e.g wexford footballers and hurlers are both in action next weekend, so are Limerick footballers and hurlers.
Also in counties like my own where hurling is very weak it might promote the game a bit more if a hurling match was on just before a football one.

In Longford & Roscommon most people wouldn't bother going to the hurling curtain-raiser. Is that not why Roscommon hurlers never play in the Hyde?

No, each county has to have an official football and hurling pitch, most people have the same but roscommon dont, i dont know why!!!
I know most people wont go but a few might and gradually increase over the years. Have to start somewhere!

Yes tickets are good value £22 or 25euro for covered stand and £12 or 15 euro for terracing.
The only problem with Clones is getting out of the town after the final whistle

well you can compare dublins league matches tas singles and had an average of 33thousand but for championship double headers i think we have to be honest with ourselves for the first match wexford v longford and dublin v louth of the 31.5thousand around 2 thousand was in the ground for the first match and their attendance for the replay would confirm that, and the secoond double header dublin brought defo between 30-35 thousand, you only have to look at the ground when the first match is on the crowd does be very little,it only fills up between the end of the first match and 5 mins into the second match.
its not realy anything more then you would expect 2k at dublin hurling match in ennis
we have never had a big hurling support and brought 2k to tullamore and 6k to portlaoise both grounds an hour or so away so i cannot see where people think the mahor decline in support for the hurlers is as we never had more then that

Htaem. Agreed would love to see 30k but more likely 20 k from meath which is a shame. I know very fe will have attended the matches already this year , but I don't care if they only sunshine supporters let's try and get nearer the 30. K mark

Ros747,

Ye should be trying to get playing a few doubleheaders with the football in the Hyde. Also, why not bring the footballers to Athleague for a league doubleheader instead of stand alone matches there & in Kiltoom? Mix it up a bit rather than have a football V hurling divide. Obviously, being from Longford I can't take the high moral ground but it'd be easier done in Roscommon, I reckon, if the will was there.

Keeper7, i totally agree with you, but im saying gaa should organise fixtures so this happens for all counties, like the double headers dublin had in croke park last few seasons!
I never really go to hurling matches but if they were on just before or after a football league/championship match id def watch them.
