Muffin No drawn games, i.e. advantage given to most attacking team, e.g. the team with largest no. of points from play, then largest no. of individual scorers, then largest number of wides, then least no. of red/yellow cards, etc.
So when the final whistle goes in a drawn game both teams will have to sit around for half an hour while the ref does his calculations.

Two referees. And maybe if you receive the ball from hand pass you must kick or something like that. Just something to make players kick the ball more.

Here is the first 31 ideas. 1. change structure of all ireland senior championships to champions league formats 2. reduce further the u12 go games championship. dont have specific groups. have 1 night a week in each county/division which is u12 night and several clubs go to 1 club and play 4 or 5 games against other clubs. the following week each club goes elsewhere and plays a completly different group of clubs. have no finals day at all 3. market schools cup comps like the harty cup better, they are an incredibly high standard yet GAA media puts nowhere near enough coverage on them 4. Provincial winners to get home advantage in championship. 5. Id condense the championship to run over 2 months. 8 weeks of dedicated weekends to inter county. No replays. My idea being it would free up club time in the "good" summer months 6. Get rid of the hand pass score 7. scrap provicional championships or play them as a different competion seperate from the All Ireland 8. 5. Yellow card for any keeper attempting to influence/distract an umpire by flagging shots as wide. A small change I really can't see any drawback to. 9. Bring in the TMO ref for all inter county games. 10.Scrap extra time and go straight to penalties, would be far more exciting.
11. Create a season long all ireland club league. 12. Minimise the number of Consecutive handpasses in a row 13. Goalies can't go outside the 14 yard box 14. Introduce the 'mark' to encourage high fielding 15. Penalise diving 16. Remonstrate with the ref and you get an automatic yellow card! 17. The time Keeping should be done like in womens football. 18. Footblocks by keepers should only be penalised when its dangerous play not when the keeper blocks a shot with his feet and no players near him. 19. Penalise professional interchange fouling. This is the practice where one player fouls usually outside scoring range, they take turns, no-one gets red-carded and teams are prevented from running at or getting momentum. 20. End the farce wherby three, four and five players can surround a player with the ball and they automaticallly get a free.
21. Enforce the rule that keepers are not allowed to leave their line before a penalty is struck 22. Encourage past players to become referees 23. Allow fans on the pitch after games 24. Allow season ticket holders to decide if they want to go to a cheaper area of the stand 25. Do something lobbying with regards the fact that you cant get TV3 on digital up north (therefore we dont get to see alot of televised games) 26. Black card/name recorded for checking a player running without the ball, ie using anything other than the shoulder to take the momentum out of a runner. 27. 2 points for long range points taken (e.g.40 metres at senior, 30 metres at underage) 28. Play club championships (Senior/Inter/Junior) during the summer and not in the muck of autumn/winter. 29. No drawn games, ie advantage given to most attacking team, eg the team with largest no. of points from play, then largest no. of individual scorers, then largest number of wides, then least no. of red/yellow cards, etc. 30. Two referees.
31. maybe if you receive the ball from hand pass you must kick or something like that. Just something to make players kick the ball more.
lilywhite1 Teams wouldnt have to wait around "half an hour" for a ref to do calculations. It would take 2 minutes. A similar process happens in rugby and doesnt cause anywhere near a delay like you think Next idea is 32. Keep the order as much as you can

Right Lilywhite1, I've had it, you've clearly breached rules 3 (No idea is evaluated on the thread), and 4 (Ideas and praise only). How am I supposed to develop any self esteem with brutes like you criticising at every turn?
29(b). Suspensions to be given out for Hoganstand forum users breaking thread rules!

GREAT IDEA FOR A POST FAIR PLAY
fans: any fans stepping out of line during games depending on severity of the act they should be named and shamed ie. fighting, drunk and disorderly throwing etc.

32. games to be played over 80 minutes, consisting of 4x20minute quarters/turnarounds with a break only after 40 minutes/half time. 33. no replacement of red carded players if a game goes into extra time, this is NOT a new game it's a continuation of a the same game. a replay is a NEW game.

Adapted this to a degree from rugby Many rugby clubs traditionally go to a club in england/wales on tour every 2nd year around easter.
This is great for creating friendships beyond the football pitch If not abroad, to places like london, anywhere in UK. create links between football clubs in antrim and cork or kerry and donegal for example where a club could go up on a bank holiday weekend. play a game and go out 1 or 2 nights in the local town/village. the following year the visit is switched and the club that did the hosting goes on tour

34. yellow cards to carry over in the championship, anyone accumulating 3 yellows receives an automatic 1 match ban. this is designed to effect the players who persistently pick up yellows in games but face no penalty.

why not change the name football to soccer and hurling to rugby then take away anything that has ever been good about the game or differant to both of the afore mentioned sports let the irfu decide the rule changes and have the fai take care of the financial side of things. sell the tv rights to british brodcasters and charge people on pay per view basis to watch our national games. create a competition where only the countys who have the most money can be succesful by allowing a transfer market say allow kerry use countys like leitrim or sligo as feeder countys for their junior and b teams incase someone gets injured on their first teams. abondon the current system for the championship and replace it with only four teams called leinster, munster, ulster and connaught. county teams will now be called the club championships thus abaonding the actual club competitions allowing the best players only to play the sport at adult level. create a situation where all managers must come from new zealand or austalia. encourage all teams to import players ahead of irish born players. thus adapoting a granny rule situation for say if your from america you can play for leinster, austral asia you can play for munster, europe you can play for ulster and africa you can play for connaught. introduce a ticket scheme where in order to attend matches you must buy a package ticket costing 1000euro with admittance to 4 matches. sell the stadium naming rights to multi national companys from outside of ireland. replace referees with tmo refs have every decision done on the big screen allowing for tv commercials and patrons the chance to ale themselves every break in play.bring in cheerleaders in place of the marching bands as entertainment before and half time in matches. change the national anthem to a new song sung in a foreign language

Anyone sent off is not to be replaced in extra time. Increase moving the ball from 13mtrs to 30mtrs for dissent. A point scored directly from sideline = 2 pts

The balance of paid coaches in a county should reflect the need to promote the weaker code in the county e.g. more football coaches in Kilkenny, more hurling coaches in Tyrone.

Have a coaching week end for referees and officials. Which promotes the use of common sense. Let the game be physical.

We do not need hundreds of ideas just a few. Consistency by referees re all rules, Fairness to be shown by CCCC and better promotion of games.

I'm all on for cheerleaders hill16 lol. Also I'd say that majority at matched these days think the national anthem is been sung in a foreign language. Sad really. I don't think all the ills are with refs or cccc. It is more than just them.

35 - actually promote the games to the general public and counties involved. Get a promotions company to do all the publicity for games and give them a % of the gate for increased attendances. Have bars, food and other activities inside the grounds.
