"Also I am almost certain Mayo are currently 2 behind Galway on the Connacht roll if honour with Galway 44 to Mayo 42."

No, 43 Mayo, 44 Galway. Hoganstand facts are wrong sometimes, if thats where you got it from.

"Yeah but you cannot compare Mayo in 2010 and Mayo now. 2010 was the lowest ebb in Mayo Football in my memory."

Lowest ebb common lad. Going into the 2010 championship Mayo were Connacht champions just like this year & had just played/lost to Cork in the league final again just like this year.

"Do you think for 1 second that sligo werent preparing for galway before they played NY? The chicken counting fairly paid off there dont you think?"

No i don't. Sligo were focused on New york if they weren't they would have produced a performance like Galway did v New York in 2010.

GAA lover, you just love to disagree, there is not a hope in hell of Mayo losing to the ridge county in Castlebar, when did Mayo ever lose to Leitrim or Sligo in Castlebar in championship, i can't recall anyway.

Ehmm..... apologies.......I don't mean to go on about this, but Anto on the Sligo forum posted the following in response to 51longago

"You don't have much of a clue yourself. All Connaught finals involving Sligo are held at a neutral venue regardless of the home/away arrangement. 1997 against Mayo was in Hyde, Galway 2007 in the Hyde, Roscommon 2010 in Castlebar. Then also points out Galway - Sligo 2002 was in Castlebar".

I see what Jono was saying, but this implies the final will be at a neutral venue and the historical evidence is that Sligo's last 4 Connacht finals were all at neutral venues. Not an issue for me (Leitrim) but I assumed it would not be played in Castlebar (my original reasoning was wrong though); then I believed otherwise based on Jono's response - now I'm veering back to Anto's view.

Of course, it could have happened, by chance, that in each of these 4 finals Sligo had the choice, in which case Jono's view would still hold!!!

It's not confusing, its just being aware of the arrangement, which I am not.....obviously!

I don't think Leitrim will beat Mayo in Castlebar either however Sligo got their first win in Galway last year proving anything can happen in football.

It was a response to a previous post from 51longago.but if you had the intelligence to read back over the previous posts you'd know that.Connacht final WILL be in Mchale if Mayo win.

Jono:- "Connacht final WILL be in Mchale if Mayo win. "

Not so sure: I'm beginning to think the following:

(1) Galway - Mayo - Roscommon have home/away arrangement with each other. That's for certain.
(2) Sligo and Leitrim have home/away arrangements also but don't extend to finals (because they can host them). If they reach a final its neutral venue. Thinking about it, it doesn't make sense for them to have home/away arrangement applicable to finals.

We lost dismally and cowardly to Sligo then Longford in championship. So yes its was the lowest ebb I can remember.

That's in hindsight after defeats. Going into the championship Mayo were in about the same shape as now. 2007 was lower ebb well beaten by average Galway,Derry the year before 2006 Mayo got to the final so it seems your memory isn't the best.

Sorry lad but Galway and Derry are a lot better than Sligo and Longford. You really think 2007 was worse for Mayo than 2010? Get a grip. It's seems your football knowledge isn't the best.

Sweet divine jesus, i can't believe im still explaining this, Sligo cant hold finals, venue is too small, so if say it was Mayo s turn to travel to Sligo (which it isnt) like 97, neutral venue would be used,

Surely ye get in now, holy god its not like its new or anything.

I repeat...july 15th connacht final Mayo v Sligo...Mchale park Castlebar..........mayo romp to victory lol

So, 51, if they can't hold finals, why would they have a home and away arrangement which extends to finals? Think about it from a Sligo (or Leitrim) perspective.

Would be the 90s since Derry had a good senior team & remind who beat Galway in that Connacht final in 2007. 2007 was worse than 2010 for Mayo & It's you that hasn't much knowledge i'm afraid.

Ask any mayo supporter which was worse 2007 or 2010 and you'll get your answer. It wasn't just the depressing losses in championship. There was so much more wrong with Mayo football that year. It was a joke.

And my knowledge is poor? You can't even figure out what county you're from.

Killer, again i repeat it was poor in hindsight wasn't poor before a ball was kicked & Mayo only lost to Longford by one point Derry,Galway hammered you. Your knowledge is poor no need to get so uptight by me stating the obvious.
