All Ireland Minor Hurling Championship looks wide open

Well done to laois on their victory. No reason why they shouldn't be producing high quality minor teams. Continuing bad times for offaly.

Wexford, Clare, Waterford and Limerick all seem strong this year.

Cork out already!

What kind of teams do Galway and KK have this year?

I think you forgot the likely winning team Hurlinspuds.

It's a flicker of light, good crew over them, not racking up big mileage bill either.
You could also say that there's no reason any county can't be producing high quality minor teams, and there isn't, but without producing a lot of good u12 upwards it won't happen in Laois or anywhere else

I suspect Limerick will win minor this year have a few gems in Barry O'Connell from ASR and 15 year old Ronan Lynch from the same school , playing a strong Clare team in Cusack Park in June and the winner of Munster will come from there I reckon .
Leinster looks all to play for Dublin have a fair few back from last years team such as McClelland , Costello , Winters , Cronin , O'Rourke and Wexford who beat them look good to too with Tony French being their main player , not sure about Kilkenny this year though and you never know maybe Laois can cause an upset.
Haven't heard much about Galway but I expect they'll be strong

In Leinster:
It's been very tight in Leinster. I think Dublin's recent win against Carlow would have to put them back into the mix as the favourites.
Kilkenny will always be in the mix as usual. Despite a great win from Laois against Offaly I don't think they will have enough to beat the likes of Dublin or Kilkenny.
I think the Dubs might have too much here for everybody to be honest. I hope I'm wrong and the yellow bellies can get over the line.

Do we know the semi finals in leinster now?
Wexford, KK, Dubs, laois still in it...

In Munster it's limerick v clare and waterford v Tipp.
Waterford should come through having a win under their belts already. The other semi could be interesting.

Semis in Leinster are Dubs v Cats and Wex v Laois. Not played until June 24.

KK have yet to play a game and everyone else has played a game?

I'm guessing a wexford v dublin final with wexford coming through that. It'd be a greta boost for them.

I think clare will come out of munster as champs.

The Minor b Hurling Championship

Who all plays in this? Reason i ask is i see carlow took an awful beatingg at the hands of dublin over the weekend, does this mean they will now enter the B competition? Would Minor A and minor B not be better being run alongside one another to give teams more of a profile? I just wonder as sometimes i look at the formats the GAA have and think what does croke park do to further our games. Other sports in the world have well supported tiered competitions yet in hurling support, sponsorship and marketing dont even exist outside the liam mccarthy.

it is pretty disgraceful that carlow won 2 matches and then lose to dublin and are knocked out where as kilkenny havent even had a game yet and they are in the semi final

It is good to see that the minor championship is wide open in Leinster (or appears that way at least). It seems that Meath must have alse had a reasonable team as they ran Offaly very close. Given that Wexford or Laois are now playing each other in the semi-final then the winners are guaranteed at least three more games (the semi-final , the Leinster final and either an All-Ireland semi-final/quarter final) which will no doubt bring them on quite a bit.

On a side note obviously KK did play a game already, however, at senior level they are automatically in to the Leinster semi-final. I think this is a bit ludicrous. I am not having a go at Kilkenny as I am sure that they would be more than happy to play a quarter final or a first round game. However, how can the organizers of the competition with 10 teams in it allow one team an automatic route to the semi-final? Fair enough, people will argue what good will it do Carlow playing KK in the first round? probably not a lot. However, in a competition where there has been only one winner in the last 8 or 9 years and in all that time, only three times have the team that lost to them managed to do so by less than double figures, would it really make much of a difference to the overall competition to have say KK v Galway or KK v Dublin in a first round match?

Is it now Kilkenny V Dublin, Wexford V Laois in the Leinster semis?

Definitely Leinster wide open. I went to see the minors against Dublin and their is definitely more dogged determination and never say die than any minor team I have seen for years in Wexford. Wont get carried away as we still need more from a couple of the forwards.
If we won nothing else this year but a Leinster MHC I would be very happy as it would be a massive boost to hurling in the county. Beating Dublin in Parnell Park is no mean feat but I hope it doesnt come back to haunt is in the final if we can beat Laois.
A decent minor team, Good Counsel beating St Keiran's at U-14 hurling backboned by Wexford men, I am hopeful that the work we are putting in the clubs in Wexford are starting to bear fruit.

Wexford will always rise again. How many fruitless years were there before '96 ?

I'd be more worried about Offaly hurling as they haven't been strong at underage for a number of years. Well done to Laois minors though.

Good Counsel is in New Ross is it not? Would the feeder clubs to that school be usually half/half Kilkenny/Wexford (maybe even some from Carlow) or is it mostly Wexford lads typically?

I saw that result. Good win. Wexford beating Dublin in the minor is also a big boost. However, the under 21s beat KK last year too and were knocked out in the final. It would be a boost to win some trophies though.
