Are this present Kerry team done?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

They have lost an All Ireland Final and a league semi final in the last seven months. Both of these games they seemed to have won, only to squander late leads. Maybe a third or half of this team have been to the races too often. And it appears the younger players coming in are not up to winning the big games quite yet. Only reaching here to see what others may think on this subject

I'm still going to back them, only decent other bets are Kildare at 9/1 and Mayo at 12/1!

I wouldn't say they are done but some of the players are, and the talent is not coming through to replace them.

And Donaghy is a full-forward only!!

If it was any other county who had competed in an all ireland and league semi final in 7 months would be considered All Ireland contenders.

If it wasnt for a wonder-goal and/or an uncharacteristic 45 miss this thread wouldnt exist. I think it is safe to say, no.

Hardly.......................we were done in 2009 too, lost 4 key players and still should've won the All-Ireland last year.................no other county can regenerate and recover like Kerry. Some people want us gone but that will never happen.

Donaghy is a great player but he is no Maurice Fitz, Forget about the cross field passing. Jack O Connor needs to use his talent in the full forward line, still a great operator in there

Write Kerry off at your pearl. They will be there or there abouts again this year.

I think it would be foolish to say they are finished. Take out a lapse in concentration last September and they'd be current All-Ireland Champions (not taking away from Dublin's win).

Disgraceful thread to start. We would not do it on any other county. As I said earlier, Down '10, Dublin '11 and Mayo NFL '12 can vouch we take our defeats on the chin. No more needs to be said. All talk of us should be in cold storage in the championship. Other counties are rightly in the limelight. Discussions should focus there on other counties achievements.

How could anyone say kerry are finished and to be saying it in April is the best part, ask yourself this question what would a league title mean to the Kerry players ? probable the same as winning the game at tomorrow nights training session......... its all about Sam in Kerry.

Once the dust settles I would imagine Jack O'Connor is more than happy with Kerry's League campaign. Maher and Sheehan are getting stronger as a midfield pairing and once Kerry can compete in the middle they have the forward power to win most games.

The one area of concern is at the back, namely corner and center-back. I would expect Tom O'Sullivan to receive another phone call in the next couple of weeks. If he was to return then the last line of defense would improve immediately as Enright is doing ok in the other corner. Eoin Brosnan is still probably their best option at number six so he will need to re-discover his best form there as well.

Wouldn't say theyre finished, would not back them to win ai this year though. Some ridiculously overrated players, that are slowly slowing down.

What is with all the "ifs" ,if dublin hadn't of come back, if donaghy hadn't of gave that stupid crossfield pass, are ye serious, I could write a book on mayo "ifs". There is no such thing, its pointless, the only if is " if you lose, you lose "

Is that based just on yesterday or what other big games have these younger players played in that we've lost?

Rubbish thread. This question has been asked for nigh on 3-4 years now and yet Kerry are always there or there abouts come the business end.. and they'll be there or there abouts this year too. I disagree that there's no one coming through either. That O'Donoghue lad looks like a nice prospect, number 5 looked good , Barry John Keane, Curtain are all handy players. You'd be a fool to think they're finished.

I think Jack O Connor will be furious about the arrogance of some players. We dont need league titles. A few young players stood out in the league. That match yesterday was not championship intensity, we know where we are when we meet Cork in Munster.
Typical Mayo supporters talking themselves up. Remember Cork owe yey one from last year, be ready for a backlash. I would say Cork and Tyrone are the 2 to look out for Sunday week. Dont think Kildare can score enough and when it comes to serious stuff well Mayo will be Mayo.
