In a few years time lads wont believe that they were not always in use, it's human nature, change raises hackles. when showers first appeared in dressing rooms some lads believed that they would be the death of the GAA as they sapped the good out of lads after training. dhorse (Laois) - Posts: 11374 - 15/04/2012 21:07:03 1152679 Link 0 |
imo should be just one's own preference as if the want to wear it or not....... dubbydave. (Dublin) - Posts: 3927 - 15/04/2012 21:11:21 1152691 Link 0 |
This is going to be a major headache for schools trying to promote gaelic football in areas of poor participation. As someone who is involved with school teams in a school with only 6 club players we will not be able to field any teams as this is going to prove to be an insurmountable hurdle. We will not be able to reasonably expect children to get their own gumshields CobraVengeance (Meath) - Posts: 46 - 15/04/2012 21:18:14 1152702 Link 0 |
@doublehop Absolutely no need for that, I was simply giving my opinion. Anyways you're just still crying about losing last years Quarter Final. HowManyStepsRef (Donegal) - Posts: 302 - 15/04/2012 21:57:19 1152764 Link 0 |

I've had two of my teeth hanging out of my head and my gum bones smashed so obviously I'm a big fan of the gumshield. Nick (Wexford) - Posts: 1100 - 16/04/2012 11:16:05 1152888 Link 0 |

Lot cheaper than getting fake ones screwed into your gums. Nick (Wexford) - Posts: 1100 - 16/04/2012 11:33:57 1152912 Link 0 |
A few year ago I was playing a game 2 players went in for a ball one came out with a missing tooth and the other one came out with the tooth in there face. If people dont wont to wear them fine the will not get money to fix there teeth if they get broken and have to pay the bill if anyone else gets hurt. If you wont to take that risk then fine done wear one the choice is up to you!! dubgirl88 (Dublin) - Posts: 1 - 16/04/2012 12:47:16 1153017 Link 0 |
A really bad injury I was was a young lad playign football with a badly chewed gum-shield, with sharp edges, when he got an incidental glancing blow it severed his upper lip. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4954 - 16/04/2012 13:18:28 1153061 Link 0 |

Very good decision for once by Central council. Have always worn one and it has saved my teeth on several occasions. They are compulsory in rugby, as they should be, and its good to see the same rule in gaelic football now. icehonesty (Wexford) - Posts: 2580 - 16/04/2012 13:43:41 1153092 Link 0 |

There would be no need for gumshields if the GAA had a consistent way of punishing lads throwing punches. mylovelyhorse (UK) - Posts: 36 - 16/04/2012 19:52:53 1153577 Link 0 |
