The story of most Mayo fans lives.

Heard a great one from Rónán Ó'Snodaigh of Kila before the final last year and the chorus went (sang really fast and loudly):

"Beir Bua Bl'Áth Cliath!"
"Beir Bua Bl'Áth Cliath!"
"Bl'Áth Cliath Beir Bua!"
"Bl'Áth Cliath Beir Buaaaaa!"

It was class!!

1138241 This is a great Wexford song, about the famous Nicky Rackard.(Ignore the first minute or so of the video).Undoubtedly our best GAA song.
It was written and made famous by the late Martin Codd, who would I am almost sure be a grand-uncle of Paul Codd.
Having grown up with stories about the Rackards of the 1950's from my father and grandmother,I always wonder what it was like going to matches back then, everyone wearing their suit and the like.I doubt you will ever see sportsmanship taken to the level that Nick O'Donnell and Bobby Rackard did when they carried Christy Ring off the pitch after he had beaten them in an All-Ireland final.
It's sad to see Wexford hurling in it's current state given the men of the 1950's did to put it on the map.
If anyone has Martin Codd's original,it'd be great if you could post it.

The song was acrually written by Tom Williams, but I've heard Martin Codd's version and I prefer it. There is a link to it on the "Ask about Ireland site.

Type Cuchullain's song - Martin Codd into Google and the first listing that pops up, label;led "Cuchullain's son" is the one. The page contains the lyrics and the link is at the bottom of the page. Right-click on the link and choose "save target as" to save it to your hard drive.

It's a brilliant song and is without doubt the best I've heard.

Good work lad, found it there now.Yes I forgot it was written by Tom Williams, apologies for my inaccurate information.Martin Codd's version is great (RIP).Ironically, the original video which I posted link was during the stage when the planning for Nicky Rackard's statue to be located in Wexford town, the statue was opened about 2 weeks ago.

There's a few good ones from when Wexford were actually good at hurling.

ollie,

That Special Olympics song at the end of games only has real meaning for those of us who were official 'volunteers' at that unforgetable event!!......ie, those of us whose names are forever on public display embossed in bronze tablets in the gardens of Dublin Castle as a tribute to our unselfishness at a time when the economy was eating volunteers without salt!!
