i see someone mentioned joe kernan..Was he actually that good a manager?? Fair enough he lead crossmaglen to x number of titles and won armagh an all ireland and countless ulsters. But in reality with those players anyone could of won those championships. it was mcconville, the mcentee's, bellew etc that won those titles for cross. Look at cross now still going strong without him. Look how he done with Galway,he had a good squad to choose from and he failed miserably. anyone agree?

The same could be said for Brian Cody could it not? With the players he has had anyone could win All Irelands could they not? Could you not say that the likes of Tommy Walsh, Henry Shefflin etc won thoses titles? People often dismiss Mick O'Dwyer's record with Kerry saying the same sort of thing. Why is it different with it comes to Brian Cody?

Mickey Moran, a man who manages football for the love of the game, and doesn't court media attention! He managed minnows Leitrim who had never a chance of silver-ware! He did it to improve football for these counties, a modest and selfless man! A Derry man.

Fair point moo moo. i suppose the only difference is that cody has been there since 98 so he would of had to rebuild the team a few times due to retirements etc, and also there was a few years in a row when he didnt win the allireland, 2004 2005 i think cork won it? but anyway he was able to rebuild a team to comeback and win it in 2006.

As for Micko..i think he proved his greatness by what he done with the likes of Kildare and Laois

I'm not a Dub and rarely support them but what Heffo achieved with his group has to be recognized. The year they won their first A.I with Heffernan I saw them play their first round in Croke Park. They looked like a mediocre junior side. That that team would go on to win a senior A.I. that same year was incredible - not to mention what they became afterwards. This has never been equalled by any manager. Next would be Mickey Harte and Sean Boylan.
