Sorry to hear the injuries you got and the appalling reaction you got from your club. No-one has supported you in this? Before you went to the guards did no-one agree with your views and offer to help you. As a previous poster said why would you want to be involved with this club anymore the whole point is the sense of community. Totally disagree with you trying to turn this into another "Ah the Tyrone boys are fine with violence thread". There were posts mostly supportive of you from all counties even Tyrone. There were some also from a range of counties not so supportive. Remember also your own club men (Assume Kildare) proferred similar views. pp local ..I think given and taking a bit is part of the game but when injuries are so severe and intent to seriously damage an opponent is there, no-one should legitimise it. Find it hard to believe you had no advocates/witnesses willing to take a stand.
That was a terrible injury & people in the club who dont support u should be ashamed.
Im a bit confused.
U mentioned difficulty with GAA Insurance.
Other posters mentioned the GAA Injury Fund.
Were u in both?
Was ur problem with one or both ?
Was the problem that ur Manager did not report the injury to the ref or he did and the ref then made a mess?
or
If ref's report was ok did you claim within the time limit ?
if that OK was it that only so much is paid out for a particular injury & ur costs were higher ?
Was it Loss of earnings and them insisting on P45 or whatever and them only not paying difference between thei max & what u were entitled to from the Sick.
Loads of people have problems but in most cases its their own failure to follow basic procedure and fill in forms, on time.
Ocassionally the fact that a Player has personal Health Cover (Vhi, Quinn, Aviva) and are told to make first claim from tha causes resentment.
Its 15 years since I was involved in GAA Injury Fund claims ( as a club official, I never made a claim as I used public hospital for the few, mostly soccer injuries, I had) so things may have changed.
call to your local sol and think about bringing a civil case against the culprit - could potentially join his club as a co-defendant - that could potentially flush out the culprit and get them pay up.
