Trouble at the All-Ireland club JFC semi

Maroon2gold...

I have encountered hostility in my time from various different crowds of supporters but its mostly all talk.
I do remember one time in Portlaoise getting bad abuse from a crowd of Laois supporters about 5-6 years ago on a very wet evening. They were very nasty and abusive. There were only two of us so we moved away and I am glad to report the next crowd of Laois people we stood with were very friendly.

Likewise Derry people sometimes get very animated at matches against Tyrone but we are used to living with that.

If Derrytresk are excluded I would expect an organised boycott of the club competitions and National Leagues from ALL Ulster sides and counties; this can be the only response

That would be fantastic to see!! No Ulster teams in football and hurling ( WELL THERE NEVER ARE IN HURLING)!! God I hope this will come through!! It will be nice to see the cream of the crop play against each other!! Thank you Ulsterman for suggesting this!! I hope somebody in the hallowed halls of Croke Park will take this into consideration!!!

What happens if it does not happen will Cork go on strike ?

The midgies..and they say nostalgia isn't what it used to be. Eaten a quencher on the picnic rug in washingbay...before the days of foreign or exotic holidays to far flung places such as Salthill or Killarney.
Did you need jabs for yer trip to the Carlton?

I suppose if we were going for a boycott then who better to ask but a Cork man - Or is it only internal boycott's/Strikes you do?

PS - The cream of the crop do play each year in hurling - Kilkenny and Tipp

I've read a lot of the posts and I've seen that a fair share of people are putting the blame on dromid starting the brawl as an excuse for derrytresks actions. I saw one lad say that number 10 should have been sent off, ridiculous as all he did was knock the ball forcibly out of the number 4's hands, he didnt hit him yet tht lad threw himself in the ground as if shot and held his chest... As he notices the brawl getting bigger he sons forgets about that til one of his own players hits him on the head!
There are lads saying that dromid should harden up but this lad feigned injury, as well as another lad who got a yellow for diving, and another lad got a push in the chest and went down holding his head, ref told him to get up!
But besides that, there is a slow motion video on YouTube that shows who exactly caused the main brawl,... The ball was knocked out of the number fours hands who threw himself to the ground, the dromid number 4 ran in to pick up the ball and take a quick sideline, but at 33 seconds (if the slow mo video) you can see the derrytresk selector/manager stick out the foot and kick/trip the dromid number 4! That's what caused the dromid 4 to swing! The dromid number 5 comes in and does a lot of pushing but any time he swings is when he's knocking arms off him, which is a big difference to trying to clock lads as the derrytresk sub in the grey hoodie does! The derrytresk number 15 tears in and knocks the female Physio over, probably not intentional but he looks out of control!
You'll also notice the number 8 following dec Sullivan around, mouthing, pushing, pulling and digging... It's obvious he's trying to rile him to strike and get red!
I'll admit I'm probably biased as I'm from Kerry but most of these things are clear from the slow mo video, the off the ball grabbing liathroidi isn't but it's not something someone makes up!
There are people trying to justify derrytresk losing control die to the 17 year old being 'hit' and dromid starting the row but the fact is, the derrytresk official caused the flare up with his loose boot!

But we couldn't have a UK Championship without Dublin surely? Having due regard for it being the second city of the British Empire.
Ah the Georgian splendour.

At the same time - def not right bashing Ulster football - That's why I wasn't bashing it. In fact I don't think I've ever bashed it… the only thing that pee's me off about Ulster GAA at times… is the most almost instinctively quick response of "NO" to any further development within the GAA. I know the GAA can at times take a different meaning North of the border - it's your precious thing against their precious thing but you don't own the copyright up there lads...

Violence is sadly fairly common place at Club level - I hate the negative press that our sports are currently receiving. It's giving certain jorno's a chance to twist the knife - lads who are only too happy to twist the knife and for that I condemn any club that brings our sports into a negative light - I couldn't give a **** where they are from. Throw the book at them I say… my own club included.

What went on was wrong! What's been going on is wrong and it's damaging our sports image.

To those who are defending that - Wise up

To those who are using it as a hypocritical weapon in order to attack Ulster GAA - Wise up

The book should be thrown at clubs that get involved in these sorts of antics, and I think the law should become involved when quite clearly there's been some serious assaults taking place - we need to get this **** out of our sports at club level and certain club members need to open their eyes.

For me a clear message has to be sent. That message will be made all the clearer by the involvement of the law.

Still though I do love threads like these... very entertaining.

You are two sides of the same coin then. You made your name on here talking about Ulster and none of it, or any of your posts, was positive.

Ulster (Irish: Ulaidh is one of the four provinces of Ireland, located in the north of the island Ulster is composed of nine counties. Six of these (almost 57% of the land area) make up Northern Ireland: Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry and Tyrone. The three remaining counties (about 43% of the land area) are in the Republic of Ireland: Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan.

the Southern agenda brigade might wish we would go away but I have news for you Ulster will be the province to beat if any team has aspirations of winning SAM this year.

Do people who are familiar with Ulster football notice a big difference between the likes of Cavan and Donegal and the rest of the 6 counties? Certainly away from sport, I personally notice a difference in the people, far more intense and dogged. I did some work up there for a decent stretch, I found everyone far less laid back than at home. I wonder how others feel?

Also on the terraces topic - I generally go to a few big games per year outside of Wexford's involvement (you'd have to if you wanted to see a few high profile games!). The worst fans I've encountered are Tyrone, Tipp, Antrim and Limerick in that order. Found the Armagh fans really good, was surprised by that.

I was at the Munster hurling final this year and on the terrace with the Waterford fans and a few pockets of Tipp supporters. Waterford were taking a heavy beating in the second half, and a young lad threw a plastic bottle into some Tipp fans. A group of very hardy looking Waterford men told the young lads if they didn't cop themselves on pretty quickly they were in for a good clip around the ear. Proper order - and as it should be.
