Trouble at the All-Ireland club JFC semi

It's clear to me that most posters on here have never been to a GAA match of any sort.....................very sad.

I agree with a lot of the statements on here in support of Derrytresk.
1. The trouble was started by Dromid
2. Anyone who says they would sit back and watch a team mentor being assaulted by opposing players is lying to themselves
It is human nature to come to the defence of a team mate who is being attacked.
3. It was Dromid who had 2 players sent off
4. It is clearer now than ever that Kerry teams and people have "notions of upperosity" as Fluther Good said in the plough and the stars. Who do these northerners think they are.
Don't they know that Kerry is the saviour of all things Gaa. How dare they beat us at football.
They play a tyrone team, they lose. They start a fight with a tyrone team, they lose. Toys are then heaved out of the pram and they call Joe Duffy bleatin on about violent tyrone folk!
The northerners are painted as the aggressors when they were only defending themselves.
5. Give the media no interviews until they can demonstrate they are unbiased. The coverage so far has been about as fair and balanced as a fox news report.
6. Finally good luck to Derrytresk in the all Ireland and to cross in their semi final.

What is that supposed to mean CKH?

I've been to hundreds of matches and have never seen supporters being segregated. Be that fierce club rivals, or Dubs/Kerry/Meath, Kerry and Cork, Tipp/Cork/Clare/Cats, Armagh/Derry/Tyrone/Down.

And indeed the day they do is the day I stop going.

Dr. Crokes are calling for segregation of supporters ahead of next months game. Is this the way forward in the game due to a hooligan element in certain counties?

Hurlingdub, my comment was not aimed at yourself, you contribute fairly to all debates on this site and appear to be knowledgeable. I'm just looking back through the pages of this thread and there are some very vile opinions on here, nothing to do with GAA.

Anyway, back to the debate. Seggregation as I understand it, is what occurs at soccer matches, with away supporters at one end, etc. This is not what Crokes want. My understanding of it, is that they want a similar set-up as you get with Championship games in Croker, blocks of supporters together.

Would you not agree with my thinking of it?

However, if indeed Dr. Crokes do mean a full separation of supporters for the game, then I am completely against it as a GAA man, and would not condone it.

I can't believe Crokes have called for the segregation of fans. What an insult to the people of Crossmaglen. Some people really need to take a long hard look at themselves, they are completely getting caught up in the hyper-bole being whipped up by the media.

The people on this thread who are trying to turn this debate into a North-South debate are also a disgrace in my eyes.

Legendzxix, are you saying that Dr. Croke's have what you call a hooligan element in their support and that they need to be segregated at a game. As a Kerryman, you know more about Croke's than I do, bit I doubt if their support is as bad as you suggest.

Well CKH, the report would appera to contradict you.

Do you believe everything you read? I have no affiliation with the club but the report has been sensationalised greatly. The Dr. Crokes club confirmed this morning on Radio Kerry that the request was made before last weekend. I will take their word anyday over an anonymous article on here

Do you listen to everything you hear ?

In my opinion it is a disgrace what Dr Crokes are at. Their chairman made a number of baseless allegations after the replayed in in 2007 against our club which amounted to nothing but sour grapes and now they have insulted a whole community. This cuts very deep and will not be easily forgotten.

And what punishment would you recommend for the two Dromid players who instigated the violence on Sunday?

Paudi Se (Kerry legend) once said of kerry fans "the roughest type of ******* animals you could ever deal with".
Serious question - Is that better or worse tha a hooligan?

Mulligan, Crokes Chairperson Vincent Casey told the Examiner:

"It's basic common sense and good practice really because we want the 30 players on the field grabbing the headlines afterwards unlike the coverage our games have been getting over the past number of days. We are also looking for adequate stewarding and in view of what happened there on Sunday they increase the number of stewards at the venue and that also they have a bigger Garda presence than last Sunday."
