Def 90,s forwards had space better midfield catching.Bigger stronger men who did,nt go down if they were looked at.The ball did the work defenders defended and forwards scored.Any county player who was a forward would kick from 40 or beyond. When would you see a colin corkery type kick now never.no contest 90,s

Forget the nineties and the noughties!!...the best decade is the 'teenies' (Snuffy made up word for the great unwashed to now use) and Dublin have got it off to a great start just like everyone wanted!!

The early nineties had some hardy teams but ever since then up until this year it has been either soft lads in the finals or 4 versus 1 man tackle stuff!!

Actually Cork started off this decade as All Ireland champions. I know you may not be the brightest Snuff, but I didn't think I'd have to run through how a calendar works with you.

98 but then theres 2000 best memories in croke park with kildare..although since geezer took over a good few new memories have been made overall the 90's because it was so unpredictable and lads didnt have to tip toe around a referee..!

90s for me Cork,Meath,Donegal,Derry all fine teams i didn't think Dublin was great in 1995 but didn't enough to win it v a one man Tyrone team the Dublin team this year are better.

Well I fell victim to some Ulster tripe football last week so I have to say......we were better without it. Noughties all the way.

The 90s.1992-1998,seven different winners in seven years(football).Great times for hurling too, with many counties making the breakthrough. Some fascinating games,no one sided finals, controversy(we had about seven in the 2000s).The 1990s was arguably the greatest decade of them all Gaa wise.

Yeah il give you that Marty did give Keith the run around that day, eammon heery bursted meaths hardest man john MAC in 96 so don't give me that. Mickey I'm not saying they were the greatest team of all time but they were heros to us. Chill out mate some day monaghan will come good and you won't have to talk about other counties all the time.

Reading MickeyLindens contributions am I the only one whos beginning to think that it might be past his bedtime? This guy makes Ulstermans posts look logical and well thought out (thats some going)
I wonder has a team from the republic ever won an all Ireland on merit?

I dont think he was worried about the winning losing or drawing i think the fact the team itself had an impact on him,a bit quick of the mark lad for my liking who are you to talk about the dubs sure whats monaghan done lately?????????

Good idea for a thread sportsfan14.

The 90s were better by a factor of about 17 billlion.

Cork starting it off with a historic double in the AI, the 4 Ulster winners in a row, Dublin bagging one in 95 (although who knew then it would take this long for them to get another? Amazing really when you think about it), and the AI was completely unpredictable afterwards, Galway, Meath & Kerry picking up titles almost at random

But it wasn't just the All Irelands that captivated - the Dublin/Meath rivalry was something else, Anyone recall Meath & Kildare playing 4 games before an eventual winner? 97 I think it was. And there was great excitement in the provincials too as I recall so I took the liberty of checking the records - Kildare & Offaly picking up Leinsters, Donegal, Down & Derry all picking up Ulsters not to mention Cavan picking up an Ulster after many years, Leitrim picking up a Connacht title (who saw that coming?) & Clare picking up a Munster

Completely unpredictable championships with romantic outcomes and histories being made

Now, compare that to the noughties where the AI went to either Kerry or Tyrone for 7 years in a row (no offence to either county - great teams but it got boring seeing the same 2 year after year much like KK & Tipp in the hurling now), Dublin completely dominating Leinster, Ulster was either Tyrone or Armagh, Munster a formality for either Cork or Kerry, the only surprises being rare & sporadic, Westmeath & Laois picking up Leinsters for example, or Sligo picking up a Connacht

Add to that, you've got the back door system with its controversial turnaround for games, the CCCC, defensive styles, the so called 'puke' football & lately refereeing controversies that are ruining games

So for me there is no contest, the 90s is across the finishing line while the noughties are still in the traps.....
