I can't imagine too may Limerick fans thinking they better stay in the stands if they end the famine on Sunday. Croke Park is different alright as you have bascially a ring of men shoulder to shoulder around the perimeter with netting. The fact they managed to keep Dublin and Donegal off the croke park pitch probably means a pitch invasion of Croke Park is highly unlikely to be repeated....unless someone decides to do a Fr.Neil Horan on it. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11697 - 12/07/2013 15:07:42 1429937 Link 0 |

Fantastic scenes, barriers and bans are just for the thugs of Dublin though. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4956 - 14/07/2013 17:49:43 1431204 Link 0 |
Croke park is the only GAA venue not allowing those great scenes shame it must be said. Mr_Pundit (UK) - Posts: 677 - 14/07/2013 17:57:45 1431220 Link 0 |
Brilliant to see Limerick's celebrations yesterday, true GAA passion on display. onlyhurling (Galway) - Posts: 800 - 15/07/2013 14:59:06 1432394 Link 0 |
i have to say i think its a disgrace lsitening to the rte panel praising the pitch invasions at a time when the gaa were calling all week for supporters to stay off the field after a limerick player got a serious eye injury after the win against tipp from supporters on the pitch.you have players doing a campaign asking supporters to stay off the pitch as they would rather celebrate the win and soak it up and then loughnane and co applaude the limerick crowd for doing it. hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 15/07/2013 15:07:52 1432413 Link 0 |

How can you stop a pitch invasion putting up fences? to expensive a Garde for every spectator can't see that either, dig a mote cheaper than fencing or see it as it is a celebration of making history . fortyfive (Tyrone) - Posts: 5929 - 15/07/2013 16:19:12 1432580 Link 0 |
Well they could extend the Hill 16 barrier right around the ground all in the interests of balance and fairness of course. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4956 - 15/07/2013 18:41:58 1432809 Link 0 |

Let me paint a different picture. Time almost up, teams level, with BOTH sets of supporters queuing up on the sidelines like we saw in the Gaelic grounds yesterday. Ref makes a controversial call, awarding a point to one of the teams, major incident ensues. Now I agree that yesterday in the Gaelic grounds was a joyous occasion, and I was on the field afterwards myself...BUT...there's a fine line between what happened yesterday and what happened in the Louth Meath game a few years ago, or the infamous Offaly "sit-in" after Jimmy Cooney's timekeeping error. what happened yesterday can only safely happen when one team is so far ahead that the result is not in doubt. football first (None) - Posts: 1259 - 15/07/2013 20:11:03 1432908 Link 0 |

How can you have one rule for Croke Park and a separate one for everywhere else? Former_Poster (Meath) - Posts: 394 - 15/07/2013 20:21:49 1432919 Link 0 |
The scenes on the pitch yesterday was great and Limerick players were full praise of it also. Croke park missing out, health and safety my ass. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 3733 - 15/07/2013 20:28:29 1432926 Link 0 |
the worst thing is hearing the fools on rte praising the pitch invasion and coming out with crap like its great to meet your neighbours and chat on the pitch after!!! hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 16/07/2013 12:54:25 1433340 Link 0 |
If the Limerick supporters had stayed off and politely applauded that would have made the occasion so much more memorable. TonyGreen (Dublin) - Posts: 17 - 16/07/2013 13:50:57 1433402 Link 0 |

In my opinion Limerick should be cautioned either by fining or by smaller allocation of tickets for the semi-final or whatever. Otherwise it shows the inconsistency of the organisation. Every other county respected the decision to cease pitch invasions. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13655 - 16/07/2013 15:00:40 1433502 Link 0 |
As one of the people who was on the field last sunday with my three children it was mighty and a day they will never forget for the rest of their lives!!...all this compliance in society these days is a load of codswallop...making mountains out of molehills..tried to make fusspots out of everyone...your local publican cant make a sandwich for you, your local bank wont cash your wage check etc....and the GAA employing a couple of hundred ex lithuian & lativan ex army men along with a few gym monkeys from Dublin to manhandle a over excited Donegal or Tipperary man after an All Irelanfd final victory is shameful....people from all counties will remember the tremendous scenes after Limerick winning the 2013 Munster hurling title ! hurler32 (Limerick) - Posts: 871 - 16/07/2013 17:37:37 1433727 Link 0 |
