The Libyan people can finally say goodbye to Gadaffi. They can also say goodbye to their natural resources and their sovereignty too. I'd say their standard of living (the highest in Africa) may also suffer.

.....and cue the massive hypocrisy from Britain, Ireland and the US on 'human rights', 'democracy' and 'the will of the people'. Like Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt the country will divide along religious and tribal lines and Muslim fundamentalists will get stronger and stronger. The US will put in a Western puppet government that will ensure the Yanks control the oil flow in favourable terms. Right wing American oil speculators and drilling companies will take over and new billionaires will be created amongst a select Libyan and Wall Street elite. The vast majority of Libyans will get poorer and Islamic clerics and mullahs will take advantage and Christian minorities will suffer. Then the US arms bodies will encourage the American miltary to intervene so that they can make a massive profit on new weapons technology; you can write the script now.

This man was responsible for numerous deaths in Northern Ireland through his support of terrorist organisations. Death was too good for him, he should have faced justice in a court of law

He should have stood in a court........alongside numerous US administrations, British cabinets, Israeli governments, Chinese and Russian regimes who were ALL guilty of the cold blooded murders of innocents within their borders and in other countries. HYPOCRISY HOW ARE YE?

Not the IRA though they were honest god fearing freedom fighters. The innocent people who died in Northern Ireland were just in the way, or as Marty refers to them "Nosey parkers"

And don't forget those Fine Gael Blueshirts who fought for Franco galling; the Hague wouldn't be full until O'Duffy's crowd are there as well. All those innocent people the Spanish Fascists in chorts with the Nazis and their Stukka bombers killed in Guernica? How do Fine Gaelers feel about their association with those who carried out one of the biggest war crimes of the 20 century......oh and Ballyseedy as well; Free State Fine Gaelers AGAIN, tying all those fellas to a cart and blowing them up in cold blood......shocking!

He was a lot of things, the scenes of his death probably reflect more on the "quality" of the type of odious individuals coming to power in that country.
Still trying to figure why NATO intervended in Libya and not Syria, of course its absolutely nothing at all to do with petro dollars and oil, just mere coincidence.

As for arming the IRA any nation is entitled to fight another by fair means and foul if they are attacked or its interests interfered with. "I'd boil my enemies babies if they attacked my country" thats the only rule of war worth following. The Libyians did what some elements of the FF Government did in arming sections of the catholic community besieged by uniformed sectarian thugs - this was no different than Isreal creating Hamas to counter-balance Fatah, or Iran the Shia Militia's in Lebanon. Thats always been the way of the world.
But dragging the body through the streets! Thats real class, I was sure that was left behind but somehow these tribal nutjobs have brought it back in vogue. Look forward to the street hangings all live on Sky of course.
As for that French Air head and Mr Cameron well what a pair of utter fools, read the latters speech on this. Then pinch yourself and realise his government has had to shell out millions for torture, arbitary arrest, false imprisonment, mass murder and mayhem all in his own country and ours as well!!!!!
