being a moate clubman i find it hard to see where moate are getting these footballers capable of competing at senior A colleges level, seeing that they comptete at the B grade at all other age groups, can someone explain this to me?

There are only two moate lads gud enough to start, the rest are from other clubs. Everyone knows at this stage about what they did bringing in 3 new players this year. I dont Know about throwing them out of leinster but certainly there should be something done to stop a school bringing in players from other schools just to play football. it is wrong but the gaa wont stop it.

Moate must have had a fairly good team before those 3 players came to their school.

Otherwise they wouldn't have come.

Or am i just being naive?

Seems to me a bit of a Manchester City is the pride of Westmeath Schools

Are you honestly suggesting Moate are the only school to bring in players from outside their catchment area to boost their football squad....?

Moate obviously had a good team but clearly they didnt think they could acheive anything. All im saying is i think too take lads out off schools for football is ridiculous and offering them free transport. How does that make the other players feel!

well all i have to say on that is that it clearly isnt working as they dont seem to have won anything in a long time if my memory serves me correctly.

Im sure most schools would do what what moate done bringing in 3 players for football, but im afraid to say st pats dont do that , last year ratoaths bobby o'brien tried to repeat in st pats but wasnt allowed because it looks bad 4 the
school

will you stop northsidegael? that one made me laugh, the fact is every school do it so we just have to put up with it

" last year ratoaths bobby o'brien tried to repeat in st pats but wasnt allowed because it looks bad 4 the school....

Actually I believe Bobby was 'invited' to repeat his Leaving Cert in St. Pats last year but opted instead to take a college course at the ITB where he helped in no small way to their emphatic victory in the Cormac McAnallen Cup....

If you really think St Pats don't engage in this practise then have a look at last years team lineup and notice how many of them came from outside the school's 'official' catchment area....!

Next you'll be suggesting St Pats are the only school that don't invite certain selected individuals to repeat their leaving certs based on their footballing abilities rather than their examination results, in case it "looks bad 4 the school"....?

Glass houses....stones.....etc....etc....

GaaToTheHeart i dont understand why that made you laugh and i do know that most schools do the same , thats why in my last comment i said "Im sure most schools would do what what moate done bringing in 3 players for football"

And ExPat i can assure you he tried to repeat hence why he was in the school for a meeting and because of the high demand he wasnt allowed to repeat ... and thanks for the link but im not really interested about I T blancherstown .

and all of the starting 15 were from the the surrounding Navan area except for oran fitzpatrick , barry dardis and ciaran fitzsimons

all this transfer stuff aside. As a reporter i think if moate and pats meet in the championship it wud be a great game! one thing about schools football is that it gets harder to predict every year.

Ex_Pat..
I don't understand how 3 players outside de catchment area of Navan playing on the senior team last year 'Back's up' your point that St.Pats get people into the school just for football and not based on academic results..each of the 3 players mentioned..Dardis, Fitspatrick and Fitzsimons , each had their own individual reasons for coming to the school regardless of football.. So unless u attend St.Pats at the moment I would stop with the ridiculas posts..good boy.
