Its a red card offence to strike or attempt to strike. He did both. However, I do expect him to be available to play in the All-Ireland

He should have been benched a lot earlier than that, he is no good to Dublin in a tight game.

All these experts saying the expect it to be rescinded. Can ye all explain to me how you expect this to happen?

Since this year's congress once a referee takes an action on an incident on the pitch it can not be reviewed by the CCC. Either way the rule says striking action and that's what he did, even if it could be overturned, why would it have been?

Strike or attempting to strike another player is a Red Card offence. He hit the guy in the face during the course of 2 or 3 pops at him, so end of story.

And people shouldn't talk about the severity of it that got him sent off, many Dublin posters were very smug after the Kildare game with that ridiculous fee at the end and they justified it by saying 'Soft is not in the rulebook'

Well neither is it in the rulebook for striking.

Ye can't have it both ways

I actually agree with you Johnny1951. Way to inconsistent. Mcmenamin for me was awesome when he came on. Was able to create a bit of space tho that was probably down to tired donegal legs.

Sure it was the winning of the match for Dublin!! Created more space for the rest of the them!

Donnacha O'Connor's red was rescinded 3 years ago for his 'strike' to Aiden O'Mahoney. The only difference is the force of the strike which gigoer has rightly stated shouldn't be an issue - either way both O'Mahoney and Boyle feigned injury. But the fact that the precident was set there means there's a good chance it will be rescinded.

This will be the most hyped high profile final for years and is going to be some day out for all concerned.

Connolly was very foolish to deprive himself of it in the manner that he did but it's a lesson learned the hard way & perhaps suspension is no more than he deserves.

It was probably more out of frustration as he was getting crowded out of it for the entire game and not getting any leighway to kick some superb scores like he did against Tyrone

Still, his red card will probably be rescinded in some form or another. The GAA wants its top players on the pitch on AI final day and as we all know, the GAA just does whatever it wants these days, I for one , will be watching with keen interest....

I totally agree with ya. Defo red cause he punched a donegal player twice. Even if it was a light punch he still did it. Galvin would of thrown a proper punch :)
I think connolly is over hyped anyway. Playing well in one game where he wasnt even marked dont make him a over night hero

Thats a good point! It wasn't even a free in the first place one of many soft frees Dublin got yesterday! Also as has been pointed out not a word on Cahill taking Lacey out of it
